Going to a bad place when i die
by 060702015 ini've thought and said too much to ever gain jehovahs forgiveness and love if i want to be a christian again.
i made a topic on my unforgivable sin and blaspemy of the holy spirit.. i feel saddness everyday having no relationship with god, no religion and fear of the afterlife.
even when i was kid i feared death and the end of the world.

There is no such thing as god. Everything you are experiencing is happening inside your brain. That is the REAL truth that will set you free. -

What is the SIGNIFICANCE of the Astounding KORAN Manuscript discovery ?
by TerryWalstrom inbart ehrman's blog reveals some very interesting facts about the recent discovery of a manuscript of the koran.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oksxmo9moqk.
"in case anyone is missing the significance of that, here is a comparison.
the first time we have any two-page manuscript fragment of the new testament is from around the year 200 ce.

I saw a documentary some time ago on some manuscript evidence that an older form of the Koran had contained some references at odds with the current text. I realize that is vague and unhelpful, but I don't remember the particulars. Possibly it was something favorable to Jews, Christians or women. -

JW's accussed to be Russian spies
by never a jw ini have been exchanging emails with my brother who is a jw.
i tried to convince him to watch the hearings of the royal commission, but he sent me a long list of reasons why he didn't trust "la obra teatral" (theater) and therefore he wouldn't watch anything.
he went on a rant of persecution stories in australia and how various governments would try to impede the preaching work.

My advice is to stop trying to convince your brother. Until he is open to taking a critical look at JWs any attempt to persuade him will be counterproductive. I used to have very long and animated discussions with my brothers about these same issues, We went around in circles and talk would get heated. I finally just stopped and decided that they had to figure it out for themselves. Eventually they all came around to my point of view on their own. -

Watershed moment???
by sparrowdown inwill this rc turn out to be the beginnings of a watershed time in wbts history?.
do you have any thoughts regarding this?.
-
fahrvegnugen
Is it a watershed moment for JWs? No. Not any more than the arguably worse abuse in the Catholic Church has been a watershed moment for that religion. It is, however, a small part of a larger watershed moment--religion is losing credibility among the masses...slowly...gradually...generationally. Clergy have gone from being held in the highest regard to being viewed with suspicion. The day will come when religion will be viewed as a curious relic of the past. Unfortunately I won't be around long enough to see it. -

Everything seems to be changing... why not birthdays?
by StarTrekAngel inif we look at all doctrines, we see an overall effort to conserve unity and control.
- assuming most birthdays, if allowed, would probably be oriented to children, then that means 40 celebrations per year.
so all in all, this give a total potential attendance to a birthday of 30 families (120 attendance / 4 family members).

Personally, I wish the boys in Brooklyn would double-down across the board. Go on a witch hunt to root out all the satanic influences corrupting the congregations. Do you own any Christmas-themed movies? Disfellowshipping offense. Did you congratulate your son or daughter on becoming a year older? Disfellowshipping offense. Are you a sci-fi fan? Clean out the unholy sorcery and spirit-medium lovers from Gawd's pure crystal white flock. Oh what a wonderful day it would be if the cons running this whole shill game finally went too far and that trickle of escapees turned into a full-blown flood of disenchanted FORMER believers. -

Atheism Explained
by Dis-Member inthought some might find this interesting... .
where do you get your morality from?
don't assume that atheists don't have morals.
-

The people who become the most convinced atheists are those who were the most serious about religion. They tend to give short shrift to the possibility that any human religion, or any ideas that closely ressemble it, could actually be true, because they have already fully explored that line of inquiry and found it to be a dead end. They see no reason to waste any more time exploring "possibilities" that have zero chance of being accurate explanations of reality. In my view any clear thinking person who comes to grip with the facts of history and present scientific understanding will quickly dispense with religious explanations and become an atheist by default. It's not a matter of plugging in this or that doctrine or deity. It's all simply diffferent version of the same dead-end way of trying to explain the world around us.

Ministry in God's paradise earth
by mistified inso i'm listening to a talk this week and the speaker was pretty delusional and shouted a lot!
the talk was the usual mumble jumble but then he said something that did not make any sense at all.
he said that after armageddon in the new paradise earth, the witnesses will still be warning people about the end of the new system of things.

Although they have an outline to follow there are some elders who think they can make the talk more interesting by putting in their own bits. Obviously this guy did just that
Once had a visiting speaker severly criticize those who thought we would have computers in the new world. He just went on and on about what a terrible lack of faith that betrayed...for some reason that escaped his audience.
A CO questioned those who believed we would still fly airplanes. Said he didn't want any airplanes flying over his head, and would shoot them down with his howitzer. "If you get to have an airplane, I get to have a howitzer." Did I mention he was ex-military?

Interesting comments from a certain JW forum...
by konceptual99 inthese are snippets from a thread on change to circuit boundaries in the us please don't assume a single narrative here.. well, we just had a letter tonight saying that the branch has decided to dissolve 2 of the ohio circuits, one being ohio circuit #3 which i am in.
ohio circuit #3 will continue to exist until the new service year in september, at which point the congregations making up our circuit will be redistributed to other current circuits.
we'll be moving to ohio circuit #8.. interestingly, our sister congregation with whom we share the same hall was assigned to a completely different circuit, along with a lot of others we are used to seeing at our assemblies.

I believe and my option only that Jehovah is telling us something. We just have too wait for clarification, we see that 2 Bethels are in the process of moving and further out New York is relocating further North, Great Britain is going further East....
Apparently Jehovah is moving them away from the populace so they don't get singed by the impending fire and brimstone he's about to rain down. He's mighty thoughty that way.

Peace In The Middle East - It's a comin'
by scotoma infrom the un news centre (with breaking news from the un news service).
un officials hope observance of international year will lead to israeli-palestinian peace16 january 2014 the united nations today launched the international year of solidarity with the palestinian people, with senior officials urging that the observance be used to redouble efforts to achieve a durable peace between israel and palestine.. the coming year will be crucial to achieving the two-state solution, deputy secretary-general jan eliasson said in his remarks to the un general assemblys committee on the exercise of the inalienable rights of the palestinian people.. mr. eliasson said israeli and palestinian negotiators are working hard towards a peaceful, comprehensive settlement of all permanent status issues.
that means a settlement that ends the occupation that started in 1967 and which would end the conflict.. it also means securing an independent, viable and sovereign state of palestine living alongside a secure state of israel, where each side recognizes the others legitimate rights, he added.. the secretary-general and i urge all in the international community to work together to translate the solidarity and desire for peace expressed on this occasion into positive action for security and for justice.. last november, the general assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming 2014 as the international year of solidarity with the palestinian people, and requested the committee to organize activities around the observance.. general assembly president john ashe told todays meeting that he hoped the year leads to robust support for the people of palestine.

Ok... so Mom did the robotic JW thing and people in my home country know about me...
by ILoveTTATT inso.... i went out all day today... just wanted to get away from the sh!tstorm that was created yesterday.
anyways... i come home like an hour ago, and my dad told me that mom called my aunties in central america and told them stuff about me, and also she told the elders of her hall... the elders want to meet with me, but i think that it will be at my house.
i am curious about your ideas about:.
-
fahrvegnugen
Just forget the idea that you are going to tell them TTATT. It is a waste of time and will go over like a lead balloon. My advice is to hold your tongue unless they ask you. When I left I tried to convince my brothers and a friend. All we did was argue. Eventually my brothers came around all on their own, but it took a few years. I won't even go there with my mom. A person has to open themselves up to the idea first. Until then just try and maintain the lines of communication. Also, I agree about not meeting with the elders. I would be polite, thank them for their interest, but decline to participate in any organizational BS.
