He cannot be happy or free in the org, can he???
Jaffa, (and others). This is what I hear all the time. But I just do not get it. Why can't somebody be free inside the org? Or happy?
In what way isn't he free?
In what way isn't he happy?

i had a long talk with an elder i know very well this morning.
we had a talk about the religion changes, like the 1975 thing etc.
he agrees to me that the gb are not let only by holy spirit, maybe only that has a use for this organisation.

There is so much simmilarity with the USA government and the WTS
You are not allowed to visit websites that think differently
If you do you get deported (shunning)
Constant brainwashing with nationalistic things
Theocratic warfare <-> war on terrorism
Lot of people died for lies (blood) usa: weapons of mass destruction
the list goes on....
Danny
we all know how disfellowshipped or disassociated children get treated by their jw parents, that they are totally shunned.
but what happens when it comes to family inheritance do they get treated fairly or do they get a lesser share or in extreme cases perhaps nothing at all?
and would jw parents that have no children left in the wts choose to give everything to the org?
It is a personal descision from the parent, what they will give to the children.
There is no WTS reason to give nothing or less if children are df.
There is also no reason to shun children if they are df, according to the WTS.
Both is the parents personal descission.

Yes I know this site. WTS publications look good in comparasion to this.
if you really want to have a laugh read the young earth book....
some time ago, i had a discussion with a college, a creationist, who belived that everything was already known before it happened.
(predestination).. not many people believe that there is no freedom of choice.
it is also the wts doctrine.
So, see explanation of uncertainty principle, the universe is not deterministic. The uncertainty principle shows it.
How the connection between quantum states and the brains work is far from clear. There is much speculation about that. It could be the key to free will

Jaffacake:
I think you owe we all have an obligation to make the truth available to people. It is then up to him.
Do we?
If he would read ISoCF he need not be destroyed.
If he does not read it, he is going to be destroyed? Get a bad taste from this sentence....
His love of Jehovah and Christ can become stronger not weaker and he might experience real joy and Christian freedom for the first time in his life. You never know, it could help him to eternal life.
If I push him I'll tell the truth and can prove him the bible is not the book he thinks he is, then he probably would enjoy any so called christian freedom any more. It will be a real freedom. However I think he is already free. Danny
i see how the wt & awake, km, and other publications are really dumbing down, and never really relay any useful information above a second grade school level.
i wonder just how many writers are needed to write this crapola?
i mean think of how easy it is to research information on the world wide web, and then think of the shitty dumbed down articles that you find in the wt society's periodicals
If they have some good programmers they do not need any.
It is really possible to generate all the articles with some templates, selected www information for the awake, and info on older wt publications. It is just repeating, the same theme always. Very uniform. You know what the next sentence or paragraph is gong to say...
Danny
what is the dumb reason behind that?
is it satanic too like horoscopes and thanksgiving?
The question is of course what is the definition of to celebrate...
It is okay to ask your family to come at christmas and have a nice dinner. (as long as you don't sing christmas songs
It is okay to watch parades etc on those holydays
It is okay some to join in some things not directly related. For example in holland they celebrate queensday. It is allowed on this day to sell stuff in the streets (normally not). Everybody is selling and buying, the whole city becomes a garage sale. Most whitlesses are doing the same.

just registered and thought i'd say hello.
been browsing the board here occasionally for a while, and thought i might want to join in now and then, so here i am.
for me, a lot of this brings up odd memories from long ago - though for many struggling in the jehovah's witless grip currently, it's clearly a lifeline and i wish it had been around when i was 'doing the fade' (as i've seen it referred to, and a great way to put it, btw) nearly 20 years ago.
Welcome.
Love to have a discussion some time with you
Take care

Well, with all due respect; it sounds to me like you don't have an understanding of the Uncertainty Principle at all.I've made clear what I am saying. To observe something you have to "see" it or detect it. The only way you can do that is to resort to disturbing it physically with light or electron bombardment. (How do you think you see large things? You receive the light bouncing off the object. When the object in question is sub-microscopic the size of the photon or electron makes a HUGE difference.)
Would you please define YOUR understanding of the Uncertainty Principle?
I'm ready to be wrong about your misunderstanding if you can better explain.
T.
Hi Terry,
I am reading up on the phylosophy arguments about free will, consiousness etc. Although I got some subject of filosophy, it did not go that deep. As I studied quantum physics I know somwthing about the uncertainty principle. Altough also there is sometimes a gap between the real world and mathematics, and the moto for some scientists is 'shut up and calculate'. (famous saying).
Anyway the wikipedia encyclopedia says the following:
The uncertainty principle is often misunderstood or misstated in the popular press. One common incorrect formulation is that observation of an event changes the event. This may be true in some cases, but it has nothing to do with the uncertainty principle.
The uncertainty principle goes a lot deeper. It comes back in a lot of calculations. For example it predicts that particles can be created spontanously without violation of any rules if they only live for a short time. Here again the relation between energie/mass and time. m*T < h/2 pi.
h is the constant of plank. This posibility describes how forces are passed. How one particle knows for example that there is another particle that has influence. Gravitons are mass less, but the carrier of other forces are not. This is why the distance of influence of these forces is smaller. It is not the distance square behaviour that is expected with mass less particles.
Some other quote from wikipedia:
the uncertainty principle is taken to mean that on an elementary level, the physical universe does not exist in a deterministic form—but rather as a collection of probabilities, or potentials.
I hope this clears what I think.
