Astrology is indeed something very stupid.
By the way is it not very close to astrology to calculate a year using pyramids and locating the creator in the pleades?

The Dying (and Dumb) Awake magazine (Aug 8 '05)
by metatron inwell, yet another awake has arrived giving us all the chance to speculate that .
"jehovah's organization" may be getting "too stupid to live".. this month's jawdropper concerns the article "is astrology the key to your future?".
consider this negative appraisal of astrology:.

who escapes more often, those born into it or adult converts?
by kid-A inwhat strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.
from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.
me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.

hard to say who escapes more often
1) some born into the 'truth' has to make his own choice later. Many of them do not stay. but the pressure of not leaving is bigger
2) outsiders who come into the 'truth' do this on purpose, (for whatever reason), but have less presure of leaving
I think that people born into the truth will leave more often. I think it is as higher then 50% (including the once that never get baptized)
for me: born in the borg. left much to late. (not out yet in flesh)

Hi.. I'm also new and wanted some opinion...
by Lynne Y inhi, i'm lynne.. i was wondering about religion for months and found this website.. i was hoping to get some feedbacks... almost everyone in my mom's family is a witness, and i was born and raised as a witness.
and yet, i never really wanted to get baptized, maybe because my father left the truth(?
although i don't like the expression, the truth, i don't know what else to say.. heh..).

Hello, Welcome.
It is nice to hear from you and that you have the courage posting.
Anyway, first you can be very happy that you never gave in and became baptized. If you did the decission would be much worse, ebcause you would have the endure the shuning when leaving.
There are a lot of people here who all have different reasons why the left the 'truth'.
For many it was disapointment, but what theay all have in common here is that they foud out it is not the truth, and that the GB is basically hiding things, making up things. It is very clear they are a false prophet. The history is very clear.
For example: the WTS has assiociated with the UN. (very wrong for them): prove: http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/watchtower.pdf
If you read some of the post here there is much more.
Take care

How do you try to combat world violence as individuals?
by Crumpet ini've just seen the pictures on the news from the children and babies who have just been killed.
from what i hear soldiers were giving out sweets and gifts to the children when i suicide bomber drove into them and blasted them all to pieces in baghdad.
makes me feel so helpless, but not hopeless.

I am always thinking on this.
It just seems that not every life has the same importance. A life farther away is worth less. (that seems to be the case in real life) I have much difficulties with this.
Maybe it is not only far and close. Like in London, it is also a part of people getting scared. Like this could have happened to me, and not really this is a far from my bed show...

Feeling really sad and worried
by Sad emo ini feel really sad and worried today.
yesterday, the police announced that those evil people things who carried out the london bombings came from my own county of west yorkshire.
on my way to work today, i walked through the market hall where there are both muslim and non-muslim stall holders.

There are indeed very agressive passages in the Koran and I am surprised that those who read it failed to notice them. Nothing like the sheepish attitude advocated by the gospels.
More like the hard-core line of the Old Testament
I did read the koran, and first of all it is really boring. There is so little story telling, all the time allah is great and bla bla bla, and if you do not do what he says he will bla bla bla.
And yes there are very hard texts in them. Hard for women, hard for non believers, jews, christians etc.But just as those hard quotes from the OT, most moslims don't take them to seriously.
However some do.

I think Danny was not referring to pictues, but illiustrations with words. ; Anecdotal illustrations.
yes tdogg, that is what I mean. Illustrations with words
The first one I give is I think from the knowledge book or the study book that came later (forgot the name)
Also I think about Jezus illustration about the one that works the whole day, gets his salary. Then half of the day someone is hired. gets also ull salary. Never thought it was fair.

The Atheist's Book of Bible Stories - Ch. 15 - Of Numbers, Poop, & Other...
by RunningMan inwell, i guess its about time that i dealt with one of the housekeeping issues of this book numbers.
although i have dealt with the bibles poor mathematical skills in the chapter the numbers of the book, up to this point i have only proven that in some cases, the bibles numbers are physically impossible.
when it comes to the size and contents of the temple or and the length of the egyptian bondage, the numbers just dont add up.

Runningman.
Great chapter as always
Just some additional thought about the ages of people before the flood.
I considered the ages from adam to sem, the son of noah. Notice how the numbers does not seem to be random. I took the ages at which the first son was born, and the number of years the person lived after that. Well that are the two things listed. (the third is a combination of both).
Then from the 22 numbers listed: 6 end with 00, 13 end with 0, and all end with 0,5,3,or 8.
The tax office has the chi-square test. It basically calculated the change numbers can happen, and shows if somebody makes up it's financial reports etc. We can do this here too.
So I calculated the chance:6 of 22 with a chance of 1/100. This is a chance of 63 in a biljoen.
13 of 22 with a chance of 1/10. This is a chance of 19 in a biljoen, or 0.00000109 %
22 of 22 with a chance of 1/4. This is a chance of 238 in a biljoen
(hope I calculated it right)
Okay this does not pass the chi-square test. Conclusion those numbers are a fake.
