i once was assigned a talk on masturbation when i was about fifteen or so.
the theme of the talk was to discourage masturbating (actually to forbid the practice), as it was considered by the society a no no.
looking back on it, it offends me to this day that they would give a kid such a sensitive and embarrassing talk assignment like that.
yeah, they are really insensitive about announcements etc.
but when I did the theocratic school we had the rule that we should not give that kind of talks (like about porn/masturbation etc) to young brothers.
I think the 'rule' came from the society, but I am not sure.

i hope this hasn't already been discussed to death but if it has apparently i'm not very good at searching on the forum.... i see the rev book is being studied again.. is this some sort of record for # of times a book is the study book or for the age of a book being studied?.

it has been released in the 80's end of 80's if I remember correctly.
it had quite an impact at that time in the congregations, because of the difefrences of previous books (not only in teachings, but also in the way it was written)

thank you for your explanation. As you well know most of us here are former JW's. I am still a JW, but I can not agree with everything, to say it mildly.
posting here at this site would probably be enough to be disfellowshipped, what is far from funny in my situation. Anyway, I am glad you are posting here for information. And of course all points of view are welcome.
I think it wouls be wise to study the pro's and the con's of the witnesses first. When in, it is not very easy to get out.
Also all of their books are really one sided, giving false conclusions and half truths. So, please examine other opinions.

No, never and indication to which side of an interested one we should sit. Although I always feel a bit sleepy at meetings, I'm sure this is just because it is teriible boring, but hypnosis no. (I'm sure) mind-control, in a certain sense, yes. DB
the "problem" is that in the eyes of budhists all regilions are respectable, and all thoughts about God are ok. (no some extend)
this will make them friendly and willingly to listen but not willingly start to believe that they have now found the only religion and all others are bad.
but then in Japan, there are many followers...
but in thailand etc it can be preached without restrains. It isn't growing fast. Also not in India.

or a sister totally freaking out because the brother was overtime again. Walking to the stand and totally saying everything she had on her heart, and that was far from descent.
how about a sister dying at the hall. She was put into the second school, and kept secret until after, because not to worry the people and keep them distracted from the more important meeting (well, the ambulance was called directly)
