  The WTS destructive image of God.

  after leaving the jws did you alter that severe, unsmiling, exacting, unforgiving ie destructive image of god that the wts was projecting very much in the spirit of the old testament?

  do you know of jws that suffered sanctions due to wts rules that have absolutely no basis in the bible such as going to university or growing beards or refusing to wear suits in fs, reading religious books of other denominations or anything silly?

  That's cool man. The slow fade is kind of hard though, because it gives them opputunity to confront you all the time. I always preferred the suddenly falling off the face of the earth routine. How I loved the caller ID.

  yeah I know. It is hard to stop myself from giving some comments sometimes. Well, I give sometimes some thought provoking comments now, but I know where to draw the border. I do not know how long I can keep it up. Anyway I do not hate teh dubs. I hate the false teachings of course. I was lucky in my cong. I could study, could more or less do what I like. (something you do just not tell, other thingsyou tell only to the right persons). to be short, my live in the org was not a hell. Also in my cong. there are a lot of good and loving people. UNless some posters here, I really felt the love from most people. Danny

  Danny: Do you mean to say that everything that God created is only 6000 years old? The whoe universe only 6000 years old? About that. The earth is definitely not millions of years old as scientist claims.

  Not so long ago, I was looking with a telescope at the andromeda galaxy. The closest galaxy, at only 2 miljion light years. This means that light took 2 miljoen years to reach us. This means the age of this galaxy is at least 2 miljoen years old. What you say about the flood and dating were the reasons why I realized the WTS were not the right religion. In first I believed all this, but then I examined those things closely. Like the ice drilling on the polar regions, which show the ice is much older (the ice has year rings like trees). Then also the tropical color islands, proved there was never been a flood. Thousands of meters of coral, and coral grows very slowly, and cannot bridge a long distance if suddenly a lot of water is added. Danny

  Danny, I bet you would lose any congregational responsibilty if they found out you were associating with apostates on this board. The way the JW's preach against bad association, you would be the topic of a special needs part. I've seen and been hung by power hungry elders and CO's for less.

  Oh yeah, for sure (especially if they would read some of my threads) A special needs part specially for me. That would be the first time well it will happen someday, but I am planning a slow fade. Danny

  Funy, exactly all those things you mentioned I do openly, and fif not get reproved, nor lost any priveliges. But non biblical things like smoing, birthdays will get you in trouble though Danny

  Danny I think the whole procedure and outcome are terribly ABNORMAL..

  It starts out with a SECRET meeting where 3 MEN "no women allowed" uneducated in any form of law enforcement confront a single individual who can not bring another person into this investigation, which itself has no protective aspects for the accused.

  Two witnesses required and ancient tribal laws are enforced.

  The phoney "APPEAL ARRANGEMENT " will only accept REPENTANCE as a cause for over turning the original sentence.

  The whole procedure is a laughable attempt at playing to be a government in their own rights.

  Outoftheorg, I agree with you. What I said is that it is just understandable that a religion has some thing to disfellowship people not following some rules etc. How they do it, and the concequences, is another matter.
  I mean like if you did something wrong: you are not allowed FS or even talks at the TS, I could understand.
  The shunning, especially from family is horrible.

  do you think the wts would physically torture and even execute "apostates" if we all lived in a context that allowed them to do so?

  much as the catholic church did in the middle ages when they had the opportunity to treat their dissenters as they wished.

  already the way the gb wants apopstates treated is as vicious as can be, manifests a deeply seated maliciousness and animosity and is calculated to hurt as much as possible under the present day circumstances.

  I am sorry that I do not agree with most of you here.

  People in general are capable of doing so. THis is proven in history. One of the worst examples where normal people tortured others was of course WWII. But there are lots of examples.

  But it depends the whole group the persons are in. And the time they are in etc. With the current teachings I do not think it would be possible. There is a lot of difefrence in active or passive bahaviour in this case. With there long teachings of pacifism etc, I would think they need a lot of changes before they would do something like that.

  Consider that most JW's are just victims not villans. Also there have not lost all contact with the world and moral issues there.

  God created all things, and that include dinosaurs. The universal teaching that dinosaurs have been extinct for "millions of years." - the usual question asked in school is: "What caused the dinosaurs to become extinct?" Instead, it should be: "Are dinosaurs extinct?"

  If you do not count the relatives of the dinosaurs, you can savely say they are extinct. Because all remains that have been found are very old. Not recent.

  The Bible explains history from the beginning of creation about 6 thousand years ago. A public school child is told, over and over for years, that these fascinating creatures all died "millions of years ago."

  Thank you Etude, for your open comment. It is nice to hear.

  While I agree with you, I find that most analogies they present as arguments are much more subtle than the one you mentioned. First, my familiarity with this verbal analogy does not indicate that the owner of the house knew that the people he left in charge were bad people. He was simply ignorant of their potential and assumed that they would do the right thing. Secondly and thirdly, if the people inform the owner that they are devastating his family and house, one is free to assume that the owner can't really hurry back to resolve the issue and kick them out.

  You are right, the WT does not include the things in the illustration that I did. I took the illustration a little bit further, but logically I think. For me this is an important thing, it is not that the illustration on itself is so wrong, it is that the whole story behind it is wrong in my eyes. THere is so much things that are hard to believe. Why Jehovah just does not do anything. The WT illustration cleverly avoids this, but it is in the illustration if you think about it.
  If you follow the illustration, would you ever do something like it?

  At the same time, I realize that the Watchtower has to appeal with their message to a large number of people. Unfortunately, this means appealing to the lowest common denominator. It's like my brother-in-law, who is a technical writer for military contracts, says: "You have to aim for an 8th grade education and no higher." What that means is you have to make things simple enough for people with limited education or understanding. That explains the serene pastoral depictions of the "new order" that I see in the magazines and books. If I had to live like that, petting lions and having eternal picnics on some meadow, I'd kill myself. What are they thinking? Well, even then, in paradise, I guess we won't be thinking about going to outer space or using any electronics.

  Yep, that is another question. I agree here.

  That kind of thinking really pisses me off because it's more insidious than some silly illustration, verbal or pictorial, aimed at child-like mentalities. I guess that's why they don't want you to get a higher education. That increases their chances to pull the wool over our eyes.

  Yes, I understand. I wanted always to work there. It was one of my goals. After a visit there, at my friend who worked there, and he told me some things that really happen, I was cured.
  There are many subjects and things wrong with the WTS. One is its teachings, another its actions.
