it was all spelt out in evil-type letters, in fact it looked suitably demonic.. when i encountered him at another 'fest, his t-shirt slogan simply read: "no!

and each year the public is invited to two lectures.
i was privileged to attend the first one tonight for this year.

When I was an egotistical punk of a jw, I started "witnessing" to this attractive older woman about god and his love for people. Her face dropped into this mask of horrific memory. "God? You talk about god and his love?? I lost 75 of my family to the nazis. I am the only one left. No mother, father, sisters, brothers cousins....Why was I spared? There is no god!!"

Does the idea of a bodyless soul make sense? Could the 'soul' stay sane?
by IronGland inas i lay in my pod yesterday i began to think of the following.
in many religions-christianity, hinduism, and buddhism, as well as greek philosophy-attempts are made to mortify the body, to respond as little as often to it's carnal needs and what-not.
this is possible to be prepared for a new existence as just a disembodied soul, in some heavenly spirit realm or what-not.. .

Do you "now" look for more reasons to dislike or hate the JW's?
by free2beme ini have noticed from reading over this site and from having contact with former witnesses in my personal life, that a lot of time is consumed in the beginning of your exit from the witnesses, with finding further reasons to hate or dislike the jehovah's witnesses.
with this i was wondering, is this done to give yourself more reason not to return or is it an expression of your freedom to find out what you want without borders.
from a pure psychological stand-point, i am prone to wonder if it is a means of feeding an inner anger to bring one a faults sense of security, when they are challenged from within to decide if what they are really dealing with is correct thinking or a path that is truly wrong.

Your comments didn't resonate with me at all.
When I stopped attending, I moved very quickly forward. I never held back from telling others I had been a jw. When disasters happened, jws didn't even come to mind, sorry. Sep the 11th I just felt sorry for the people who were killed and injured.
I have formed new beliefs that I'm sure will continue to expand. Finding this site has given me a good laugh mostly, as all have had the same experience no matter where on the planet. I find that fascinating, a common language if you like. There's a positive from homogenised religion!

As a sexual abuse survivor myself.....................
by BLISSISIGNORANCE in...................and mother of a child abused at the hands of a jw, i found the whole michael jackson trial and support by his fans insulting and hurtful!.
who of us can be sure if he did abuse kids or not?
how can anyone say he is guilty or innocent (except a victim if there is one)?

What I got from Blisses comment was the pressure on the child victim seeing hundreds of fans protesting that the perpetrator is innocent. It must be incredibly hard for kids to face questioing let alone protesters.
