Recycling: Not for True Christains
by jeanniebeanz inso, i'm sitting here sorting out my recycling since tomorrow is trash day, and i remembered something that happened years ago that gave me a chuckle.. it was a sunday botchtower study and the topic was things that we should be doing to prepare for life in the new system.
even as a child, i didn't answer from the magazine and they never knew just what i was going to say; they would usually not let me hold the mic myself just for that reason... .
i had been learning about recycling to preserve our natural resources in school (6th grade, i was 10) and had my comment ready to go:.

JW at my door this weekend
by Dawn inmy neighborhood gets worked about 1 or 2 times a year - and since i have been out a long time, and moved from another city, the jw's here do not know that i used to be one.. so - this poor unsuspecting man stopped on my doorstep saturday morning to share a scripture with me about the "last days" that we are living it.
i took the opportunity to point out that his organization has predicted armageddon more than once and it did not happen (of course - slipping in deut 18 about the false prophet .
he started to try and explain the whole 1975 fiasco when i stopped him and said that i was referring to their claim that armageddon would come before the generation of 1914 had passed away.. would you believe - he sat there on my doorstep and lied to my face telling me that the jw's never taught that armageddon would come before the generation of 1914 passed away .

As I've posted before, that is why I stopped being a jw. One day door knocking about the literal generation, the next day it's figurative!!!!
What scares me is if the wts said be like abraham and sacrifice your children as a restful smoke to me, how many loyal ones would slice their kids over a fire with that glazed look of righteousness in their eyes?

this is how you want it because "body you" is kind of a moron.. fact 2: all living things have two primary desires: to stay alive, and to have offspring.. this is a basic, defining biological fact.
of course "brain you" doesnt think, "i want to talk to that cute boy because i want to procreate", but "body you" is!

I just had this conversation with a friend of mine who is breaking up with her latest badboy(heroin). I really hammered her about it, as she has a child. She understood and agreed on her wrong choices but give her a month and she'll have another. I know her so well.
There has been times in the past when she wanted to ''expand" our relationship. Guess when? When I was being a bad boy.
I am no longer a badboy but will always be her friend

Any "Miraculous" experience happen to you like the ones said at Conventions
by soundbox_guy ini had to sit through those experiences at the convention, i was wondering, did any of you used to be one of those people on stage giving an experience about how something miraculously happened like getting the exact amount of money you needed to pay your rent on the day it was due?
i always hear the stories, but can anybody actually tell me something like this has happened to them when they were a good little witness?
and if it has, did these sort of "events" stop taking place after you left?

Yeah, I live in a mudbrick house. If you don't mix straw in, the bricks crack. So that's why the job was (allegedly) harder for Israelites, heaps were useless.

Aw Greendawn I have lots of women mates who I love dearly but sex is just not in the picture. What I was saying is that we are still animals and if we are honest, our hormones are at the base of many decisions.
I have also slept with women and not had sex(act), just intimacy. Not all men are beasts but then not all women are strictly emotional, non physical beings. Actually I have come to the conclusion that women are much more deeply sexual beings than men.

here's a nice little side benefit of being raised a jw then leaving; having to search the obituaries of the local paper once a month hoping that your dad's name does not turn up.
it's doubtful that any of my "family" would even let me know, so, i know it's morbid, but i look in the local paper each month and hope that i don't see his name.... j

Yeah same. I found out my brother had had a number of strokes through work friends. I finally ran into him in the street, he looks like an old man. I could see the hollow fear of death in his eyes despite his "faith". Could be dead now for all I know... Weird
