Is your heart bigger since you left?

i was amazed how, in a matter of days after leaving the org, my heart seemed bigger.

i was free to love people - truly love them as they were and without condition.

i was no longer required to sit in judgement of them because they didn't believe as i did.

Yeah understand the hesitation. It took a big reality check on my part to move on but its like being a twig stuck on the side of a river. Eventually you gonna have to let go and trust the direction of the flow. See jws told you that you must be in control of your life even the future...Impossible and stressful.

Lot of fear to face before you let that river bank go...

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

when i look at myself in the mirror i see a different person than i saw a few years ago.

also, when i look at photos of myself from a few years back, i don't even know myself.

not that i look that much different physically -- it has something to do with the eyes.

It's tough medicine time.

Sitting on the fence only gives you a pain in the arse. No one is happy with that position. You need to trust yourself. Trust that the decision you make is truly the best for you. Those people have conditional love for you. If you do what they want, they will love and except you. If not your gone man.

Is that the kind of people you want to be with for the rest of your life? There are some damn fine people on this planet, don't believe the jw bullshit that all are evil. It's just not true.

Why do so many exjws give their power away? Don't you see that by excepting their judgement you are feeding the monster?

It's like fear. If you succumb, fear rules your life and you stunt your potential.

You are a beautiful worthwhile individual who has the ability to move mountains. Don't allow the naysayers to deceive you.

Life is fantastic! Enjoy it like a good meal and you'll die satisfied.

Mental illness among JWs: cause or effect?

there is compelling, published evidence (see link below) to suggest higher rates of mental illness among jws compared to other religious sects, and the general population.

what is your opinion, is this because people with "susceptibility" to mental illness are more likely to be attracted to the lifestyle and psychology of the wts, or after joining and being an active member for years, the jw psychology and lifestyle are simply enough to push any psychologically healthy individual into psychopathology?
