What is your communication like with your ex? Would he consider a round table with you and the children? Do you have a mature neutral relative or mutual friend who could mediate? In my experience jw parents in this situation tend to blur their role as a parent, not seeing that their noncustodial children have a different opinion but still love them and want to see them. Once this is clearly and occasionally, firmly pointed out, the true parent comes out. Sadly sometimes that parent isn't a "good" one and they cut away from their children.

In Australia we have the Washminster system. No House of Lords, rather a Senate but the rest is basically Westminster, Upper House, Lower House etc. As far as the Queen intervening in 1975, it's true to a point. The Judges on the High Court were all old conservatives who despised the elected Labour Gov. who brought in massive sweeping changes like land rights for Aboriginies. They found an ancient law that gave power to the Queen's representative the Governor General to dissolve parliament and appoint an interim Government in times of crisis like when the Senate cannot decide an issue. Guess who they chose? The conservative opposition. There was massive protests and the GG died a despised rambling drunk. That legal loophole has been patched.

It's a good question... After leaving the jws behind, I used my discontent to spur me through the mental/emotional lethargy of that lifestyle. It was like a fuel that had to be spent. After facing death a number of times, a wise person (my deeper "self") told me to stop jumping in and worrying about the consequences later. It has taken years for this advice to truly sink in and guess what? Contentment grows in proportion to the modicum of wisdom earned.

Hmm. Interesting to note...(now there's a phrase I haven't heard since the kh!!)that the talk was based around matt: 24 but there was no mention of "this generation will by no means pass away until these things occur" Ha ha Still smarting guys?

Yeah, I worked for a German volunteer hospital in Aragum Bay Sri Lanka after the tsunami. Didn't see and jws about!! Actually didn't meet any religious volunteers, all too busy saving lives in the real world to discuss beliefs.

Words in other languages which have different meanings to when we say them
by The Nothing Man indoes anybody know of any words, which are spelt and pronounced the same, which are used in other languages but which mean completely different things?
as an example (which doesn't work i know) love in english means affection, but love in say, spanish, means hate?
dumb example i know, but do you catch my drift?

I agree with others not to let your daughter be unsupervised around jw relatives. If you knew one was a child abuser would you allow her to be around them unsupervised? Jw's use the same tactics, grooming. Do you have near relatives that are jws? Make a bridge with them and any healthy older role models you know e.g. friends parents. Good luck!
