  Jesus between age 12 and 30. . .

  i'm thinking he traveled east and learned the wisdom of the orient.

  no way the watchtower line about him being a carpenter's assistant all that time is possibly true.

  he was way too learned about the ways of people to not have been educated and his ideas seem very eastern to me.. anyone got any good books, articles, blogs, websites on the topic?.

  I had a Gnostic book printed in the early twentieth century (that I sadly loaned out and never received back), that argued the maggi who saw christ as the messiah at his birth would have continued watching over his development. The author argued that the maggi paid for Joseph, Mary and the children to go to Egypt in exile (how else could they afford it?), then took jesus to India and the far east to gain the knowledge fitting of a world king. As I recall, it was believed that he survived crucifiction and returned to north India where he lived out his long life.

  A very romantic tale with no evidence like the bible stories.

  I've been outed...

  so this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.

  she was rushed to the er.

  a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.

  As noted by Nickolas and others, GM seizures have no correlation to stress. I have had GM seizures and went to the extent of visiting a Harley St neurosurgen for answers. None. They are not (usually) life threatening, just look bad. Interestingly, I have not had one since separating from jws 13 yrs ago.

  I too have gone through jw divorce/child custody and can only recommend getting legal advice. But at this moment, imo go to a counsellor, get yourself a decent place to live, then start being the best dad you can be.

  Not dated in a while - could use some tips, advice lol

  i guess the title says it all, but i'll expand.. recently met this beautiful girl who through another party expressed her interest in me which was quite flattering to be honest.

  im a 27 year old guy and truth is that i have really struggled with this kind of stuff since leaving the dubs a few years back now.

  i guess i still have their theories floating around in my head, you know, all the old rubbish about dating some of which goes back to that youth book.. we spoke today for the first time properly and i think it's game on.

  Just relax. Don't read too much into it, or too far into the what if's. It's just a date. You may not like each other and all this angst is just a waste of energy. Go for it and have fun!

  to the intellectually honest witness, it seems like it often comes down to this principle.

  "fine, if the witnesses aren't the truth, then show me the better answer and i'll consider it.

  That throw away line about "showing me a better truth" is actually dripping with selfishness and laziness. It comes from the angle that what do I get out of it, rather than an actual search for the (elusive) truth. Should truth always be "good?" Should it be easy as studying the the jws? Should we attempt to use moral terms like good news to explain unfolding truth? Does it take real effort to find? And really what are we searching for and do we really want to know the truth?

  really do appreciate the excellent info shared on the site...this network of such a dubious bunch, has provided much needed therapy .... .

  anyhow,i would like to share my dilemma.... i recently went to court.i petitioned for sole and legal custody and more child support.. i was granted more support,however custody wasnt even reviewed..i prepared extremely well for this hearing.

  actually that was my priority.

  Keep a record of all breaches of the legally binding agreement. (Don't tell the children but) Record, maybe in a diary with dates etc, comments from the children about their fears on access, or any bizarre religous requirements that the courts may frown upon, e.g. forcing children door to door in inclement weather, or dangerous situations (you mentioned a pedo).

  But most importantly, be consistent with your children. Give them a person they can trust who loves them without conditions, who clearly has their best interest at heart. If you do so, they will stick to you like glue and sadly for the birth father, unless he radically changes, will learn to despise him and his religion.
