As I recall it was vague, brief and basically blamed the rank and file for reading generation wrong. That's a WT apology. LOL!

Ever Have A Close Call?
by rocketman inyesterday i had a close call on the road - an out-of-control pickup truck veered into my lane, spinning as it approached and crashed into a pole about 50 feet in front of my car.
this is the second close encounter i've had, (both involving someone driving a pickup truck).
in this case, a couple of seconds made a huge difference, since i may have been directly hit had i just been a bit further along in my drive.. i would imagine that once a few days pass, i'll give less and less thought to the incident and i doubt it will precipitate major changes in my life or outlook (which i generally think is pretty healthy).

I have come so close to death so many times.... Ever seen "World's worst road"? I travelled it on a wheezy Indian bus. At one point I looked out my window. There was no road to be seen under the tyres, no guard rail and a clear view of a cotton thread sized river 10,000 feet below. I just turned the Walkman up and hid my head! Another bus trip in Laos we were on an appropriatey named Highway 13. We passed a massive boulder that had crashed onto the road from above. Just after a head on crash with a body lying beside the road, through as village where two guys waved AK47's at us and finally drove over a "repaired" section that had collapsed into a ravine. The driver lost control in the mud and we slid towards the canyon. He just accelerated and we made it. When I finally got to my destination I had a good look at the driver. He was flying on Yabba (crystal meth).
I've had guns in my face, nearly drowned dozens of times surfing big waves and in rivers, numerous serious m/cycle and car accidents, been deathly sick in Asia a number of times (and on my own in jungle), been drugged in Thailand but escaping the jws was my closest call.

When the WT came out I asked the elders about it. They came to my place and basically said there has been no change and if you keep saying there has been you will be charged with apostacy! When they left, I opened the JW CD and researched "generation". The scales literally fell off my eyes and I never went into a KH again. My wife of the time lasted a meeting or two and stopped as well. I had a chuckle when I saw on this site yrs later that the WTS did a two page kind of apology. Idiots!

The Small Quiet Voice
by Satanus indo you hear it?
not talking about voices.
i'm talking about that little niggling thing, on the side.

The small quiet voice has come to me numerous times. Once while caught in a whirlpool in the Ganges river I accepted my fate and thought how ironic, dying in the Mother Ganga. A calm inner and very rational voice said "Your children will never know what happened to you as the Indian police won't retrieve your body from the river." This bit of common sense gave me the adrenelin rush I needed to swim back to the surface and out of the vortex. When I finally drifted back to the bank a female voice, again very calm and rational said "When are you going to stop jumping in and considering the consequences later?" This of course went far deeper than my swimming preference and took years to fully apply. Very soon after this, Jung's teachings came to me and I started to understand.....

Who has experienced a REAL demonic incident?
by Monsieur inhas anybody here experienced a bonafide, real, true incident in whicy 'demons' actually interacted with you or did something 'supernatural' that left you convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that satan and his demons exist??.

Agree with Satanus. While I don't believe in demons, I respect the comments of those who may (or simply don't read the thread). I don't need to ask for evidence of something I don't believe. That just debate and of course on this site, on this subject it soon attracts the atheist massdebaters.

Controversial essay- cull 20% of the poor.
by fulltimestudent ina controversial essay is part of aussie news today.. the essence of it is that the state needs to kill about 20% of the poorest in the community, to fix its financial problems.
it is, of course, claimed to be 'tongue-in-cheek,' but is there a sound basis to the concept?
i sound very right-wing in saying that, but i live opposite a boarding house that is full of people who, i guess, would be prime candidates for the cull.

Clearly the article is "tongue in cheek" but what many fail to understand is that economically we need the poor. Imagine the inflation if all were millionaires. Unsustainable. Also who are the market for business to sell to? We all pay goods and services taxes, rich and poor (VAT, GST) and we all contribute to money flushing through the economic system. Low wage earners are the backbone of economics and polititions know this, so never seriously take on wage inequity, the unemployed or others on welfare etc.
