  Do Any Atheists Feel This Way?

  the atheists have done a pretty good job on me, i am just about to cast my lot in with them after all the reading and debating on the issue.

  they just seem to have all the answers and appear to hold the intellectual high ground, they do a good job of making one feel like a complete idiot for believing in a god, much less the christian version.

  so now that i am almost free of this delusional, magical thinking, religious burden of foolishly believing in a god and that there is anymore to life than what is right here how do i feel?

  IMO this is the down side of knowing that there is no god. It appears that early humans created an after life as a counter to the horror of nonexistance.

  Religion, let's face it , is all about denying the reality of death.

  A religion that doesn't have a hope of an after life has no followers.

  To me life is a circle. We come in hairless, toothless and totally in the care of loved ones. That's how we leave. Our 70 or 80 yrs is all about preparing for this time.

  As others have said, enjoy the ride!!!

  just wanted to say hi.... its my 1st time on here...it looks good.. are there many here from aus??.

  i am 37 - male - was a jw all my life until 2 years ago.

  used to pioneer regularly and was a ms. thankfully i questioned everything in the end and found out who god really is and the history of the jw's....my wife and i were shocked after reading coc and c/freedom.

  i love these type of people, because they are so easy to see through.

  you know the type, they meet you and they're all nice and all, but because your not important enough they don't really want to be your friend.

  in fact, they probably got introduced to you by someone who is important and to make that person happy they give you five minutes of conversation or maybe listen to a thought or two, and then they are off to the next person and your nothing.

  I got put next to this really strange man at a business dinner. Decided to make an effort, as we were going to spend the next couple of hrs together....

  We blagged on for a while, then he says, "Have you seen the movie---- (a famous animated movie)?

  Me thinking he wants to bag it, says "Nah I haven't bothered to see it. Bit purile etc etc. Why?"

  He replies with this blank look on his face " I got an Academy Award for it"

  I'm just numb! :-( I need to vent!

  i have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!

  my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.

  he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.

  From my experience, elders tend to get lost in the right and wrong of a situation, rather than going, hey someone just died, maybe someone needs or unconditional love.

  Actually, jws as an organisation tend to be that way, more focussed on legal issues than compassion and common sense. Does it go back to "judge" rutherford?

  What Decisions Did You Make Only Because You Were A Witness?

  i believe that most jws are deep down inside angry over the fact that they went along with the status quo and the majority just to be accepted.

  some witnesses would like to have a tattoo, a mustache, a shaved head, a beard, a new red sportscar, etc.

  but they don't because they would be viewed as "immature".

  i am looking for help regarding some unsolved prophecies, regarding the king of the north and the eviction from heaven of satan, the woman, and three and a half years, or 42 months, or a time times and half a time.

  WHAT DOES HAPPEN AFTER DEATH????

  we all know the jw view on what happens at death.

  however a friend of mine lost a very young son and went to a medium.

  the medium told her the name of her son without knowing anything about her or even knowing that she had a child that died.

  I am open on this subject but one point I'd like to pick up on is the pat answer from sceptics that this is all trickery. Do clairvoyants go to some secret trickery school like Hogwarts? A degree in advanced observation in body language?

  The arguement doesn't hold water, as many clairvoyants work over the telephone, or just from an article a person has posessed.

  Where are you on the map? New Maps

  ok there are so many americans on the map now i had to split you all in half.. valis was kind enough to let me place the maps on his website until i found a new home for them.. photobucket seems to be a good option - at least for now.

  so i have uploaded the new maps which have been updated to include everyone who has asked.. so if you were wondering where we are from.
