  I had a friend who was growing huge hydro crops the whole time he was a jw!! About 15 yrs. I always wondered how he could afford so many "toys". His wife never knew, or never wanted to know...

  Horoscopes/star signs

  a friend who is an intelligent high-flying business woman is going through a relationship break-up and is also recovering from breast cancer.

  she is not religious but has been turning to 'new-age' beliefs to try to help her cope, (she has visited a numerologist and had her palm read).

  she has just sent me an email with a description of 12 different personalities based on star signs.

  I am a Taurus but never could see my personality fitting the typical description until I read a book called the New Astrology which combined Eastern and Western signs. I am a Taurus Monkey and it nailed me to a tee. Interesting. I still use it when I meet new romantic interests as a guide but we are all so unique.

  After Kingdom Hall bomb blast = Twisted Witness logic! Saved by Jah!

  in sydney in the late 80's a bomb blew up the kingdom hall killing one man and injuring many.

  the hall was badly destroyed.

  later stories spread about how jehovah "saved" the congregation.. 1. the brother who died was large and sat in front saving many lives by taking the full impact.

  Sheez, I remember rebuilding that hall JW facts. As I recall, the guy who did it was a disgruntled husband, who had a bit of explosive knowledge from the Vietnam war. On the other hand, that could be witness legend too.

  we had one always had his hands on the sisters and would stare at there brests all the time .

  any new sisters were ''new meat'' lost count off the times he was told off by the elders

  Yeah, we had an 80yr old who molested a 3 yr old girl. All he got was loss of privlidges. When she grew into a teen, she was shunned for being immoral. Both parents were devestated and left. He got a full witness funeral when he died. What a just and loving and understanding god and body of elders.

  " (et al).. whilst my question is primarily directed to you nark, i want to open this up to everyone else also.. nark - from your opening ramblings (and i mean that in the most endearing way) on "is 'consciousness' overrated?

  ", and from other recent posts, i get the feeling that you are asking these questions because you know something and you are trying to grasp onto what you know.

  At what point does a religion become a cult?

  To me a cult is when beliefs are "set in stone" and cannot be questioned without fear of humiliation or excommunication. So that includes all organised religion and most scientific theory.

  sometimes i look back at my 27 years as a witness and am astounded by the amount of double speak that goes on in the organisation.

  god loves unconditionally, but only certain ones, god is going to save the world from its downward spiral, but first of all he is going to destroy millions of evil people.

  it is all so fatalistic and unkind.

  The way you were made a display of (walking you out in front of the cong) tells me they had you in their sights. They were showing the cong that they were dealing with a pervert. Isn't it ironic that they destroyed a truly honest christian to satisfy the gossips and hatemongers and of course, their own vile imaginings? How many times I saw this in that organisation.

  The Mighty Led Zeppelin Soars Again !!

  i know brent r. had a thread on this yesterday or day before , but in honor of my personal all-time favorite group, i had to write a few things here !

  if some of you have seen the u-tube of them performing songs with john bonham's son jason on drums , it was an incredible performance !

  watching their expertise on " stairway to heaven " and " kashmir " was like being back in high school again, like they never went away !
