I was gobsmacked when a district overseer didn't think a part I was doing sounded miraculous enough, so I was told to embelish the details. In other words, after that experience, I realised that those stories at meetings, conventions are (as above) myths, legends and outright lies.

Australian Convention Pioneer family Experience - We found our vegetables in the gutter..why do they wanna be Martyrs?
by Witness 007 ina couple years ago district convention - a pioneer family with two kids explained how they had ran out of funds and had no dinner...as they turned the corner out witnessing they saw a vegetable truck had spilled some produce in the gutter and so "jehovah provided in our time of need..." i felt like yelling get a job you bum stop starving!!
not encouraging.

The power and assertive years ( approx. 30 to 45 )
by caliber inmy personal observation is that these (30-45) years are the coming together of physical, emotional and mental power, a time when.
most reach the desire , confidence and need to speak out to speak out about all injustice they see around them.. my personal opinion is that after reaching this stage in life you mellow out in your 50's .
i make this claim by personal life experience.

On somes points I agree but I have found my voice in later life(I am nearly 55). I battle to keep my mouth shut at meetings etc, as my bulls+++t detecter has become sharper in my fifties. Physically, I am just as active as ever. Must have good genes.

I rarely comment on climate change posts due to the sheer emotions stirred and personal attacks between posters. What I will say is that Simon's comment, to me, made the most sense. Whether you are a believer or denier of climate change, surely we can all agree that the environment is being heavily affected by human over use of resources.
We are personally responsible for our use/abuse of resources. I am scepitical (in the true sense of the word) of current media mad scientists making outrageuos claims, but (over many years) I have made the move to growing a lot of my own vegetables, driving a diesel vehicle, massively cutting my coal fired power use, use solar hot water and have been involved in native revegetation for a number of years. This planet is very robust if given a chance. What do you do to lessen your affect on the environment?

The wt literature was the first to go, once my eyes were opened. I needed to purge all those lies that I swallowed for 20 yrs. Geez, I look back and realise that I actually had that rubbish in a prominent place in my lounge room, for all to see...Cringe

WItnessing work in Hong Kong
by Listener ini was in hong kong recently, which is a lovely country but very much a big city where people live differently because of it.
on one of our days we were walking to the ferry through a covered walkway and there were heaps of people handing out all sorts of leaflets to passerbys, you couldn't walk 10 steps without someone trying to give you their leaflet.
i was surprised when we came across about half a dozen witnesses trying to hand out magazines.

I lived in Hong Kong briefly, 30 yrs ago. The kingdom hall was in the red light district in a two or three story building. I would pull up on my Triumph and hopeful hookers would approach, only to see the tie etc and realise I was heading upstairs. Now I look back, I should have hung out with those women down stairs. All were very hot and at least they plied an honest trade, not like the kh!

I have eaten it in Thailand. Once in the north (pig's organs and blood) rather tasty if you didn't think too much and once in the south in a soup. This was clotted balls. Not bad. Also on the menu was monkey and an endangered species, barking deer. The heading on the menu was "fruits of the forest".....

Repressed Feelings and Unconsciousness based on Analytical Psychology
by TastingFreedom inwhen it comes to reaching out to our suppressed emotions, feelings and desires from growing up as jehovah witnesses, the information below helps to understand about personal unconsciousness.
in order to deal with confronting the repressed feelings and emotions that we may not realize exist because our 'ego' (consciousness) neglects our 'shadow' (unconsciousness).
sometimes we do things without realizing why, well this helps to understand what happens to our mind.

Me too Satanus.
When Jung's teachings came my way (by synchronicity) I felt I had met a long lost brother, or maybe father. All I read answered so many questions and relieved the tension of " have I made the correct decisions in my life?" My view of death is slowly changing to acceptance and possibly a little curiosity...
When my grandchildren were born, I realised why I needed to die. To give them the freedom and space to grow tobe complete individuals.
As to the original point of the post, I agree that in my case, I kept so much pushed deep under as a jw. It caused illness and emotional distress. Once I freed myself, I was truly born again, to be the complete person, faults and all. What a revelation!

Your worst field service experience.
by littlebird inmy worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.

Speaking of dog stories. I had a friend who went to this door. A woman answered and a large german shephard came from behind her. She made no effort to contain it. It lept at my mate. Sadly for her and the dog, he was an ex professional boxer and life long street fighter. He gave it a killer left hook and the dog was out cold. Now that's a conversation stopper!

Yeah, I was there and yeah, I remember the bomb scare. Geez it's too long ago to remember exactly but I was baptised in 76, so it was after then, prob 78. I can remember that they got city brothers to inform their country cousins not to stare at the prostitutes in Kings Cross!!

Why Is There NOTHING Written In The Bible About Jesus' Early Years?
by minimus inwhy doesn't the nt have anything about jesus on record prior to his baptism?
after all, he was a perfect boy.
you would think that little jesus would've been talked about by everyone in the town,.

I like the Gnostic theory that the wise men at Jesus birth would have watched over Jesus (Who paid for their exile in Egypt? Why just accept him at birth but never show interest again?) and waited until he was of age to be taken to India and the far east to learn from the great mystics. They saw him as the Messiah, so of course he needed to be taught as much ancient wisdom as possible to be a fit spiritual leader.
