Only time will tell. It is in the interests of the US gov to keep him alive, as it would show a "tolerance" of differing opinion but like a duck swimming, there is more going underneath than meets the eye. The Swedes will be under much pressure for a trial and conviction. He was a silly bastard for bedding those women in a country well known to have the strictest sexual assault laws in the world. Does he think he is above the law....? Ooops he does! LOL!

I'm all for free speech S but J Assange is a strange one... Wikileaks goal is complete transparency, a kind of nerds anarchist state but JA has been berating the Aus government for not supporting him in his legal battles. I reckon the weakest link in Wikileaks is J A. That is not to say he is guilty of stealing secret intelligence from the U.S. That appears to be in the lap of the military and their weak security. Let's see....

Are You A "Dictionary Atheist"?
by cofty inthere is more to .. atheism than simple denial of one claim; it's actually based on a scientific attitude that values evidence and reason, that rejects claims resting solely on authority, and that encourages deeper exploration of the world.
atheism is not solely a negative claim about gods, but is based on a whole set of positive values ... that denial of god thing?
it's a consequence, not a cause.

Tattoo - Regret it or love it?
by mythreesons ini've been mulling over "getting ink done".
anybody here have any thoughts.
do you regret it?
-
doofdaddy
I have numerous tattoos, one done by hand in Thailand (as in using a needle and rubbing the ink in. Stunningly painful 5 hrs). My last two were done in Bali by an amazing artist. The last was completely "free hand" and took under an hour. It is the revered Lord of the Monkeys, Hanoman, a Hindu deity who symbolises loyalty, bravery and cleverness. The tattoo runs done my left arm, with his hips coinciding with my elbow. My other tattoos all have personal meaning to me, so like a diary, I would never regret having my past recorded on my skin.

What is your definition of a "Fundi" or a Fundamentalist?
by brotherdan ini've been called a "fundi" many times in my discussions with people on the board, and i'd like to know what your definition is of a "fundi".
don't google it.
i just want to hear your personal definition.. i find it interesting because i don't go to any church.

"Out of the heart's abundance, the mouth speak"s. You have identified yourself as a fundamentalist. Just read your own posts to get an idea but methinks you are using these subjects to prosetylise, so the question is not honest.

The Sun is Alive and Exerts Power
by sabastious intell me if i am crazy, but i think the human race is ignoring something extremly simple.
when we go outside on a cloudless day... we all seem to ignore the giant burning ball in the sky.. think about it.. the sun truly is the bringer of all earthen life; without it's effects we would all perish.
did you know we have never sent a probe to the sun?

What Is Truth?
by Reopened Mind ini was the one at the meetings who had a dictionary or at least a definition written in the margin.
i thought it was important to understand the meaning of words to better comprehend the lesson.
i liked that the writers would throw out words which were not commonly used to help us expand our vocabularies.

Having spent time in India, religious faith is not an issue that is debated. You are born a Hindu, you will forever be one. On the other hand, Hinduism is tolerant of other faiths. Preaching to convert others is classed as, not just impolite but fundamentally insulting to Indian belief and law. It shows massive disrespect for all that India has fought for, tolerance amongst a billion and a half people.

Biocentrism - Revolutionary theory of looking at existence/reality
by TastingFreedom ini have been reading a book for some time that i find fascinating.
the book is biocentrism, how life and consciousness are the keys to understanding the true nature of the universe by robert lanza.. .
it proposes a theory that is certainly different than how we look at the world.. basically our reality is only a perception that is not absolute but only relative to our life and existence in this particular coordinates of the universe, meaning that our senses perceive space and time only in relationship to our relative existence.

Thankyou MS for pointing out my lack of editing. What I intended to say was that is it possible that humans are the highest beings in the Universe and we are terrified of that possibilty, so we created gods/goddesses to take away that massive responsibility and sheer aloneness?
Blame my error on a large work day and a glass or two of Sav Blanc. As far as the grok comment, I have pity for those without passion and a healthy dose of enquiry no matter how outlandish the theory. Also, this is why I rarely comment here....
