  Nice to see S(atanus) about again...

  For a few Rupees I got to hear a raga played by four gurus of their particular instrument (including a classical male dancer). Sitting in the evening heat of a Dharamsala summer, actually on a flat roof of someone's home, with a few mats, cushions and candles to set the scene, I (and about 6 others) was priviliged to see and hear some of the greatest musicians in India. They were all from Varanasi (Benares) which is the centre of classical music in India. No drugs required, I lost a few hours in a meditative state and yes I got a glimpse of the oneness of humans, in fact all material things. Spiritual? I don't know. Many scientists I imagine would feel the same awe and respect for the Universe.

  Tea

  i was raised on lipton tea.

  my mother saw tea as the solution for everything.

  no matter what the problem, she'd suggest a cup of tea.

  I spent time in Hong Kong and Sri Lanka, both renowned for tea(s). I drink Dilmah brand which is a single origin from southern SL. I caught a train past their area and made sure I got in the rear carriage which was mostly plexyglass to see the plantation. Yes they pick their tea by hand same as they have ever done since the British brought tea to their shores. Should have taken photos...

  it appears that many of the best music threads have been purged.

  i can't imagine the formula that would eliminate such wonderousness while preserving "involuntary muscular contractions", but so it is.. the first offering.

  Yeah Tootired the skeletons kinda take the sexiness out of in the moment passion!

  Never been a great fan of dubstep, more of a psy trance or dark/minimal techno man myself but those tracks you selected (Knife party) were pretty bouncey and would get me up dancing.

  Request stories on JW mental health issues

  i am just curious as to how much of a problem mental illness is among jws.

  i would like to hear what others have to say regarding their own experiences in this matter.

  specifically, i want to know how these individuals were handled in the congregation and whether or not being a jw contributed to the effects on mental illness.. .

  Generally, aside from people with diagnosed mentall illness what I observed were more like personality disorders. Narcsism, obsessive compulsive disorder, paranoia, god complex. There is no doubt that the JW experience creates antisocial people, people with deep distrust of the outside world and all who dwell in it including family. Getting your head around the idea that 99.9% of humans will be destroyed in an agonising way by god...but he loves you, would turn anyone's mind.

  one way to bust through the trickerly and mind control used by the watchtower is making people think.

  if we can show how the "end times" began in 1874 using numbers from the "walsh trial", is thinking possible?

  the numbers and dates used in scottland must have a use to us, using brother russells own words could bring one person to change.

  i guess the proper food at the right time on new ways for preaching was taken from the russellites.

  years ago i remember seeing them in flea markets, etc, w/ their booth set up.

  now suddenly the watchtower org is doing the same thing.

  Just saw a booth not an hour ago in town. Hidden back off the footpath, chatting amongst themselves. I bought a coffee and watched. Not only did they not speak to anyone, they were invisible to passerbys. People literally stopping and standing in front of them without so much as a glance. Hilarious.

  some people don't realise that attacking darwin's personal life over evolution is nonsensical as he was not the only scientist with the theory at the time.

  many scientists were debating the idea including darwin's father and grandfather.

  amongst the people throwing the theory around was a young poor welshman with a love for biology and questions, his name was alfred, yes everyone could calm down a welsh :) man called alfred wallace was also on the case...... many don't know that he contributed much to the theory too.

  Many years ago I crossed the Lombok straight in a dugout. Sounds exciting and dangerous? Yes it was as sinkings were common back then. I was stunned on arrival that the environment was so different to Bali where I started. On return home (pre internet) I searched the library and found I had crossed the Wallace Line. What a brilliant mind.

  As I recall Aldous Huxley's grand father (and father?) were early supporters and researchers of the evolution theory. More great minds in an era of great break throughs.

  an average of five kingdom halls being constructed daily, almost 8 million brothers and sisters, dissemination of bible literature in 595 languages, 111,795 congregations worldwide, distribution of 179 million bibles available in 116 languages, 239 countries where jehovah's witnesses have a presence, etc.. need i go on?.

  on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?

  I don't quite get your point. Is it growth equals success? Or growth indicates truth? jws are just another corporation.

  Monsanto is growing at a massive rate, they must have the truth.
