How wonderful. I have found that when you give of your time / money to "wordly" places they are so much more grateful and appreciative that the witnesses ever were.

Disfellowed on 7/16/14 for sending a letter to my former congregation
by spbondgirl007 init's been quite a while since i lasted posted anything on jwn.
i was in hiding previously, but only because i wanted to avoid the shun gun until i had the opportunity to tell my former congregation what i think about the org./gb.
i last attended a meeting over 2.5 years ago but it wasn't until june--when i earned my bachelor's degree--that i finally had the time to collect my thoughts and get them down on paper...i decided to write my letter in a style i felt would be most appealing to my target audience--jw's still under gb mind control --in the hope that at least a few would read it and actually "think".

Happy you got that monkey off your back and you are totally free to live your life.
I was in the faith since I was 8 till 30 - have got family and friends in but being disfellowshipped cut all contact and for that I am so happy. I knew what I was getting myself into - wish I had done it sooner.

DF=death
by doneandout inour last midweek meeting was going along as planed, then after the last talk, an elder was called up to say: member x is no longer a jw, please sing.... after the song it was silent (compared to todays were people started talk right away) and the father had his head down with someones hand on his back.
i didn't catch what they were saying, but the pose said: i'm sorry for your loss.. it was a weird night thinking how leaving a religion could couse such sadnness.. jw.org.

It is sad that a man made religion could do this to a family. To have that kind of a hold over minds is a dangerous thing. It is sad that our family members cannot or will not look outside their religion box and search for answers or study their own relgion.
I'm glad I got DFed though - no lose ends - done / dusted / out!

Today's "gay-bashing" and other embarrassing content public talk!
by stuckinarut2 inoh wow..... the public talk today is certainly embarrassing for witnesses!.
started (completely left field too...seemed to come out of nowhere) with condemning homosexuality, and anyone who even tolerates it.
if you like tv shows or movies with gay characters, you are "just as bad" (eg modern family tv show).

I can't stand to hear such shit spewed out - wherever it comes from. It's so idiotic.
I've got so many gay friends and well it's not just something you can get over with bible therapy (have actually seen a documentary on how they tried to cure homosexuality / lesbism - where they actually hurt the ""offender"" while they were looking at pics of their same sex loved one. This was done to assocaite those feelings that came up with pain - disgusting)

we feel we could make money as we go by selling and teaching using herbs and gardening.

What an adventure. Pehaps when you get those odd jobs you can put a little bit away into a savings for when you decide to stop so that you would have some funds.

Are they really that stupid
by moley ini was recently approached by a couple of borg drones while i was walking my dog, and i thought why not, may plant a seed or two (how wrong was i).
there was no real logic to what they were saying but as i was in the local park the conversation started to veer to how wonderful nature was and how this was the work of a wonderful creator.
i did not let on i was a former witness and let them continue with their fairy tale of creation and how the vast multitude of animals shows a loving god at work blah blah blah...... but i digress, the converastion then turned to how evolution was false.. apparently to earth is only a few thousand years old, so i mentioned about the burgess shale, to be met with blank stares.

Those sneaky demons lead by that naughty red fellow satan. I may have replied to that with - for sure and the earth is flat and sits on the back of 4 elephants standing on the back of a turtle.

This photo woke me up
by krejames in.
i was already on my way to my second fade when i went to the wildlife photographer of the year 2012 exhibition, but this photo made me lose faith in the idea of a loving creator......(the gazelle has been injured by the mother cheetah so she can use it to train her cubs to hunt).

That picture represents nature to me - it's the way nature has evolved.
I came to believe there was no god because of human suffering and human evilness...if there was a god , he was sitting back doing sweet blow all to help correct the inhuman and evil behaviour of millions.

Anyone Seen This
by lambsbottom inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2691254/how-jehovahs-witnesses-got-street-smart-believers-swap-infamous-doorstepping-standing-outside-train-stations-shops.html.
it's a practice that's been the butt of jokes for decades: a pair of jehovah's witnesses turning up suited and booted on your doorstep.. but the days of the 140-year-old religious order's members trudging door-to-door in the rain could soon be numbered.. thousands have switched tactics to stand on street corners in more than a dozen cities across britain - and unusually for public preachers, they are staying almost completely silent.. leaders believe it is a better tactic in modern britain, where people do not like being approached directly and prefer browsing as if in a shop.. three years after the same tactic was introduced in new york, witnesses have been standing on pavements in at least 13 cities across britain and handing out tens of thousands of magazines.. unlike other evangelical preachers, they do not shout or call attention to themselves - instead standing in near-silence until someone approaches them.. 'i guess that's just not our style,' said mark o'malley, a spokesman for the jehovah's witnesses at their london headquarters.. 'we have used inventive approaches down the years.
we used "sound cars" in the 1930s which would relay lectures in the street from megaphones on the roof.. 'radio was used a lot later on and our members wore placards and sandwich boards.

Yes I truly did. I had a love for my god and wanted to please him......then realised I couldn't and that I wasn't good enough and that I had to keep this jealous god sated with field service and works and more works.
So I left. He wasn't worth it in the end.
