did you feel that the ministry was especially rewarding and gratifying to you?
I only felt rewarded now and again - perhaps only when we went out into the rural areas, where "the preaching work" didn't reach (go out once a year to these outlying areas) I felt that people were hungry for God.
Otherwise the quicker we did it the better - I remember once this guy and myself did ONE whole door - placed a book and we went off for breakfast.

I've had a good chuckle reading all of these (had myself a long weekend in South Africa) On Friday I was off and the same lil old sister & her fieldies partner came a-knocking at my door to find out how I was doing. So I told them very well, don't believe in anything that they say anymore & that Armagedon I'm sure is never going to come....For a change I got to speak my mind pretty well, asked them questions that left them a lil speechless or too embaressed to answer 'cos if they did answer they'd contradict their own teachings.

do you follow the arrangement dictated by the governing body of jw's regarding df'd and da'd individuals?
do you shun the jw's like you are expected to by wt leaders or do you speak to jw's and greet them with a smile even if they shun you when you do so?
in complying with wtbts rules of acceptable behavior for da'd or df'd persons do you think that you are showing unconditional love to your neighbor?

after todays study, i'm unclear about teaching about the kingdom.
is it the same as those who expect the second coming of christ to rule for a thousand years etc.
or is it here now, since 1914. are their 2 kingdoms, or 2 phases of the kingdom?

Can you imagine sitting there one night & they're studying 607 bce and you put your hand up and say " you know doing some extra research to clarify matters in my mind, I found that secular history actually points to a date some 20 years later. Hi Dune - I can see you are truly passionate about what you believe - good on you.
With regards to the memorial - if my memory serves me correct I don't think Jesus actually said to commemorate his death, what he was saying when he spoke to his deciples was to "keep doing this in memory of me" To keep doing what I ask? When you keep doing something you do it often, not once off. They had to keep remembering the covenant that he had made with them, so whenever they got together they would break bread - not literally - but in that they would share the word of God amongst themselves & with others.
I disagree that those who are DA'ed or DF'ed are the ones that cut themselves off. This is not true. I still want my family to be able to associate with me, but they can't otherwise they risked the same punishment.
Dune - these guys on here are not people that have just left the organisation willy nilly - they've done extensive research and it's not the people themselves persay that they are against, it's the controlling factor of the organisation itself. Not all these people have turned their back on Jehovah either....it's just that we've had our eyes opened and cannot go back as it would be as the bible says ..."like a dog returning to the vomit"
i have had a few experiences which some could be dealt with rationally although even to this day the coincidences seem too convenient; .
mine was on new years day in 1994; i didnt celebrate new years at the same although i was about to start my fade that year; i was ill on new years eve anyway and i had been sleeping when i awoke at precisely 12.13. i couldnt get back to sleep but there was no obvious reason why.. my grandmother was in hospital but she was getting better when i had last spoken to her; i managed to back off to sleep but woke that following morning for some reason really concerned about my gran; just as i was coming downstairs the phone rang and my girlfriend answered it.
i said to her before she got to the phone that it would be my mother with bad news about my gran; i was right on both counts; it was my mum and my gran had died.....at 12.13 precisely..
last night I could feel tickling on my back - up and down, side to side...was kinda freaky (images from that movie FALLEN came to mind - a demon was scratching me) So I sat up, yank of my T-Shirt & and aaah this is so gross a little cockoroached plopped out - I nearly died!!! That was spooky. I'd rather have demon *shiver* ugh!!!!!!!!!!! I feel ill.
