Just goes to show how brainwashed they are - to the point that even when you were physically ill they couldn't see it for what it was.
So happy you and hubby made it out and are doing better.

if the rapture started now?
by fakesmile insince the majority would be "left behind", i wonder.
clearly the hard workers who neglected "spiritual things" to persue a career in the science field or just working with the hands will be of the many left.
what would this world be like if all fundies just dissappeared.

There would be very few of us left - but I reckon it would be a hellofa lot better - almost paradise :)

Are we all bitter?
by LouBelle ini posted a link on fb that lead to a topic here.
i then had one of my 'friends' start having a go about how bitter everyone is here....fact he said.
(he used to be a jw elder but left a while back, not sure why he left or if he has even researched the faith since leaving) the more i tried to reason with him that actually it is a support forum, the more he lashed out that everyone here bad mouths the jw's and only attack the jw's.

Thank you everyone for your imput. Something that I tried to highlight in my discussion with this person was that everyone has been through a huge variety of experience and everyone handles things differently - he still didn't get it. He gave me Nelson Mandela as a shining example - Mandela spent 27 years in prison as a terrorist - he was put there because he rose up against those that would oppress him. He had not been brain washed, Mandela was a well educated man. When he came out of prison he had the support of millions, he had access to that support, he could forgive, he could move on .... I am sure though that initially when he was thrown into prison there was a bitter taste in his mouth.
I like the definition of bitterness - it explains the word more fully and one can better grasp the meaning.
All I know is this place helped me, supported me, listened to my rants and raves, answered questions, taught me lessons. This is a place of real people having come out of a cult and we get it.

Am I bitter? no, I'm not. I have regrets, my life could have taken a different route, but I am at peace about it. I am glad I took and made the effort to find out the facts about the faith and not still think it's a great religion. My past anger was directed at the faith because I came out of it and it had lied and decevied me.

Again I tried to explain that it is an ex JW site / forum and thus the experiences are JW related and that many on here put a lot of time and effort in exposing the true facts.
I felt like I was back in the kingdom hall speaking to a person with blinkers on...it was so frustrating, he kept saying this was fact that was fact when in fact he had no bloody clue.
I ended up saying: "again you state that everyone is negative as a fact. As much as a fact that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607bce. Some people don't like to hear the truth about the truth"

Lying for the theocratic warfare
by Gorbatchov inbecause of growing up in the jw religion we heared and read many experiences and encouragement for lying when nesscesary / needed for the theocratic warfare.
.
personaly i think this is totaly wrong and has had some effects on me: i feel that i can lie easily at work and sometimes in our family affairs.. a kind of creatively using truth and untruth.. i don't do it often but i recognize this fact.. so, this jw religion standards are measurability wrong.. gorby.

I met with 2 friends of mine that had started studying with the JW's - they didn't realise I used to be one. We had such a good chat and I said that one of the things JW's use is what they term - theocratic warfare - they were dumbfounded and I know that along with a few other things really got them thinking. It is my hope that they will soon stop the study.
