Post cataract surgery Great News!
by Lady Lee inmy vision before the surgery was 20/60 in the eye that has had the surgery.
i saw my eye dr today and it has moved up to 20/30.
this is way beyond what i expected.

How would you feel if your coworkers pooled in on Powerball lottery tickets and won, and you didn't participate?
by Theocratic Sedition ini just recieved an email stating that the folks here won $8.00 over the weekend.
so they're going to use the money to procure more tickets and i believe the jackpot is up to like $260 million or some other crazy figure.
i never participate and i absolutely enjoy watching them waste their money on tickets with a smug haughtiness that only an active jw can muster.

Memorial Invites from Door to Door?
by NeonMadman inis this the first year that the jws have been out aggressively handing out memorial invitations from door to door?
i've been out for about 12 years now, but as i recall, congregations used to receive a relatively limited number of memorial invitations, and they were pretty much reserved for bible studies, good rvs, inactive persons, and others who had some sort of connection to the organization.
they were not just randomly handed out from house to house - that was what the "special talk" invitations were for.. it occurs to me that this might be an attempt by the wts to pump up the memorial attendance so as to maintain the illusion of continued growth.

Elders! Elders everywhere!
by Julia Orwell inan elder came around this morning at 9am to ask if my husband wanted to come with him on a bible study.
my husband nipped from the bathroom to the bedroom in his undies to get dressed, while i talked to the elder!
the elder talked about how he just happened to think my husband might be free this morning, and just happened to get a call from someone wanting a bible study, and then he said to me, "why don't you come visit my house some time?

Definitely expose them to life. If you can 'study' with them, don't do the regular study thing, teach them about life, draw pictures, use nature, teach them to read and to enjoy looking up information for themselves, set them tasks like "what are stars made of", how old are dinosaurs. When they get older allow them to have "worldly friends", encourage them to be the best they can be, to study further, to reach for the stars :)

Hello Raindrops - welcome to the forum and I'm so sorry you find yourself in this situation. If you want to be close to your family for your childs' sake tred with caution. You could just be "weak" - allow your baby to grow up thinking, to reason, to get a good education, to participate in sport etc - I wish you the best....as it is not going to be easy to stomach the meetings.
