Hmm, if I would have known of those boards when I was still trying to be doing more hours without actually leaving the house, I would have done it. Of course, being on this board would have made my leaving the JWs much MUCH faster.

Do active jw's count their time they post here for field service?
by HockeyMullet ini'm just curious.
it looks like there's a couple "unbaptised" individuals here.
i suppose you wouldn't have to detail it in the service reports, although i haven't filled one out for quite a while.

Just curious, How many Awakes do you read to get a college level education?
by PaNiCAtTaCk inmaybe pmj or another active witnesses can explain?
or do they still teach this?

Yeah, Ha! College for 5fth graders! Ok, I'll admit they do have *some* articles of interests, but you'll never learn about really interesting or challenging stuff in a Awake magazine, you'll never learn to think for yourself, to doubt, to examine *every* angle of a subject.
I don't know....do colleges have a course on the wonders of Coffee Beans now?lol

Hehe, I LOVE Dogma! And I still think that Buddy Christ figure is one of the funniest, cleverest thing that happened in a movie.

Disturbing paragraph in Dec 15, 2005 Watchtower
by yaddayadda inin the 2nd study article, page 29, paragraph 17.
"a similar shocking end will come to the symbolic harlot who has the name "babylon the grat.
" the harlot represents the false religions of satan's world, which have their origin in the ancient city of babylon.

Aprocrypha and JWs
by Lilycurly ini made a search but didn't come up with anything specific about what are the views of jws concerning the apocryphal bible books.. from what i know, some man a long time ago (catholic or pagan, but certainly not a jehovah's witness) decided wich books were inspired and wich to dump, and then proceeded to assemble the bible as we know it today.. now i don't want to start a fight about wether or not they would be inspired....but how do the jws explain that they accept this choice made by this particular man (or group??
) do they admit tha the man was inspired?
if they do, then they'd have to admit that god gives his blessing to other religions, and if not, they are missing some books and serious information..... what would my father tell me, if i asked him?

Yeah, but the problem is...not *all* of the bible is in harmony, try as they might, they could never convince me of it. Maybe the Bible itself is the one being in contradiction with the apocrypha....I'll need to make more research about this...I'm just all worked up because I'm in the middle of reading the Da Vinci Code...

I'll have to find where I read this....but a few people said that many events in Jesus' life were almost a perfect copy of ancient legends.
Passion of the Christ = Osirien legend...Osiris dies on a Friday (crucified) cried by isis and coming back to life 3 days after.
Some verses of Matt 5:3-12 are copied from manuscripts of Qumran 4Q525, 100 years before JC.
Jesus walking on water and asking one of his disciples to do it is exactly the same as a part of the legend of Buddha and Shaliputra.
One of Buddha's disciple also became a traitor. (Devadatta.)
The legend of Buddha says that he too, multipled breads starting from just a few to feed more then 500 monks, some was left and he threw them in the water.
Ressurection of Lazar (my favorite)----The egyptian legend of Osiris who had to travel to *Bethanu* (house of the god Anu) to find his dead father. There was two sisters *Meri* and *Merti* whose broher was caller *El-Azar-us*!!! More then that, Bethany didn't even exist in Jesus time.

Nightmares?
by elliej ini don't know if anyone else has this problem or if i'm just crazy.
i have been attempting to fade.
my family recently moved to a new area and we have never attended the kh here.

It goes away....
At first, I dreamt constantly that I was at the KH, listening to talks and just asking myself "Why I am here!? No, I'm not supposed to be here!" Or even worse, I was out in service and wasn't ready at all, and I knew I didn't beleive anything they wanted me to say. It feels horrible. I assumed it was just my brain that was so accustomed to those activities, and it just needed to fit them in for awhile.
Now it's less and less frequent, but just yesterday, I dreamt I was at some kind of JW convention, and there was a paper to fill about Harry Potter knowledge, lol, of all things. We had to write what congo we were in, and I looked at my dad, because we both knew that I hadn't attend a meeting in two years. That was strange.
