Sometimes the Witnesses tout Revelation 11:18 as indicating that only now has mankind had the capacity to actually 'ruin' the Earth. They don't bring up Genesis 6:12 in the same sentence.

What say you about the fact the Jeremiah 25:12 places the 70 years ending at the death of Babylon's king in 539? (Compare Daniel 5:26-30) The Society states that the 70 years is exactly 70 years. There is therefore absolutely no way the 70 years could end 2 years after an event which the bible says would happen after the 70 years.

Yes, everyone agrees that 539 was the year for the fall of Babylon. With that in mind, read Jeremiah 25:12 again. The 70 years could not end another two years later. Even if it were that on its own it would debunk the 607 myth, yet there is so much more corroborative evidence that the 607 date is just wrong. It is humorous that this issue has had to go on as long as it has.

"proof being that the year 537 BCE Cyrus issued his decree that Jews could go back to their homeland Jerusalem and rebuild the house of Jehovah" That conflicts with Jeremiah 25:12 plain and simple. The elders didn't like it when I told them that.

our congo had a 10 hour "soft" target for guys.
however, if you didn't meet the 10 hours you got your "privledges" reduced or revoked.
I had the 'privilege' of doing the sound and microphones for a while but I started feeling guilty about bumping up my FS hours. Alas i lost my privileges when my hours went down. Naturally I was devastated.
Almost everyone bumps up their hours; it's almost a rule. Even the really diligent ones who think they aren't are still recording a lot more time that what is actually spent talking to people. That billion hours a year preaching we heard about so often is largely time spent driving, walking, sitting in the car waiting for someone on a call etc etc.
It really is embarrassing to say 1 billion hours a year is spent on preaching when you consider the relatively low number of converts, many of whom are JW children.

There is plenty wrong with 607 from oh so many angles. However, the short short version: Jeremiah 25:12 says the king will be called to account once the 70 years are fulfilled. Daniel 5:25-30 is clearly the calling the king to account. All good witnesses know this was in 539BCE. Therefore the 70 years can't end 2 years later. Therefore they can't start in 607. Any questions?

No, THIS ONE is legit for sure. A cousin of a friend of a friend of mine met someone who thought about doing it and now they're a squillionaire... i think. Sounds a bit like getting people to go around with no remuneration for their time, distributing literature for whatever people are willing to pay. But maybe that's a topic for another forum. Surely no one would go in for these kind of things.
i was working yesterday so i wasnt at the meeting but the speaker in his talk made comments about 1914 on several occasions and towards the end of his talk he mentioned that if any new ones in attendence didnt understand the signficance of 1914 or how we know that christ started ruling in 1914 that they were invited to ask any jw in attendence to explain these things to them and they would be happy to.
this really got my wife to thinking because as a 28 year old jw who was raised as a witness and who has always been very active in the ministry she couldnt explain 1914 or any beliefs that we have as witnesses in regards to 1914 other than things havent been the same in the world since this pivotal date.
something as simple as this comment from this speaker can be the first step into seeing the errors in the wt belief system.
Aside from the fact that Jerusalem simply *wasn't* destroyed in 607BCE, consider Jeremiah 25:12. It says clearly that the king of Babylon would be called to account "when 70 years have been fulfilled". All well-versed Witnesses know that the king was called to account (killed) in 539 (see Daniel 5:26-30), therefore they cannot be right about the 70 years ending in 537, therefore they did not begin in 607. And it wasn't talking about 70 years of exile for Jerusalem anyway, it was talking about *nationS* serving Babylon (Jeremiah 25:11,17-25).
Though there is a multitude of other scriptural and archaeological evidence that also disproves 607, Jeremiah 25:12 disproves their doctrine from the bible with very simple arithmetic. Still, when I showed the elders this, their eyes just glazed over and their only defense was that I *could* be wrong, though they couldn't say how.
