I have presented rational arguments. If I have said something untrue, I would gladly have someone point it out.
If someone has a rational explanation to support supernatural reasons for these phenomena I would be most interested to hear it. I too have experienced deja vu at times (maybe once a month) where it has seemed that I have known exactly how certain events would pan out, but I have not automatically attributed them to mystical forces of the universe.
In a previous post, I touched on the concept of temporal mechanics. This is an extremely complex theoretical topic to which you might want to refer to information from Stephen Hawking and other physicists. Another of my previous posts touched on theories relating to deja vu.
If the statement regarding having part of the brain removed appeared condescending that was not my intent - it simply illustrates that no surgeon would agree to remove large areas of 'vestigial' brain matter.
The topic of this thread intrinsically calls for sceptism (or 'skeptism' for our American readers).

Some suggestions for when you receive the cheques ('checks' for our American readers):
1) Do nothing
2) Mark it 'Return to Sender'
3) Report the intended recipient to the relevant authorities (somewhat futile)
4) Cash the cheques and wait for a bill and maybe fraud charges.
I would suggest either option 1 or 2, and hope they assume you gave them a false address. -

we only use a fraction of our brain power
There is a common mistaken belief that specific parts of the brain are unused by most people, allowing for the belief that some people have harnassed that part of their brain to tell the future and so forth.
If we only use 10% of our brain, why are almost all brain injuries detrimental if 90% is gap filler? The real issue is the potential for synaptic connections between neurons allowing for storage of information. There is no evidence that any number of these connections would enable someone to tell the future beyond the ability to deduce outcomes from observable data.
Which part of your brain do you feel could safely be removed? I would like to keep mine intact. -

I saw everything exactly as I'd dreamed
You are suggesting that there is a mystical spiritual force that gave you premonitions of an incidental event that had no real significance. If these experiences are attributed to such a powerful force, why can't this amazing powerful force do something a little more worthwhile than giving vacation previews.
Assuming that you did actually have the recurring dream before you went to the place, and that the dream actually contained the exact details of the scene (rather than similar aspects that you later convinced yourself were identical), this would require that either the scenario was influenced to mimic your dream, or every event in the universe is predetermined.
It would be very difficult to focus on a particular place in the future given that the absolute position of all physical bodies for an unknown future time would be very difficult if not absolutely impossible to calculate.
This only leaves the very theoretical possibility that the future events are actually *remembered*, however there is no basis for DNA-based lifeforms to have such an alternate perception of temporal existence, and there is no reason why such a manifestation would specifically occur during a dream.
Impossible? Maybe not, but I remain sceptical. -

Daniel's Prophecy, 605 BCE or 624 BCE?
by Little Bo Peep inhello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

So was the land completely uninhabited or not?
All or part of Judah was uninhabited for a period of time. However the 70 years does not refer to a period of time for which Judah was completely uninhabited.

Some people have keen perception and may be able to better invision things that are likely to happen, that other people may not. There is not necessarily anything mystical in this.
For example (and not meaning to dismiss the story, but merely posing hypothetical possibilities), perhaps the aunt had previously met the other kid and decided that he was not trustworthy. The nephew may have lived in an area where it is not uncommon for people to get their hands on firearms. There may have been other instances of youths playing russian roulette, or other gun related deaths which may have raised concern. Were the circumstances of the killing definitely the same as in the dream? Were there eyewitnesses? Do the details as they are recalled now accurately reflect the events that took place a number of years ago?
Tomorrow, my phone is going to ring at 11am. I am not going to answer the call. Because it is a bogus 'competition' scam. Psychic? No... And I'm not from Gallifrey either.
Will the red pill interfere with my current medication? -

Gill:
Russell did strike it lucky with WW1 starting in 1914
He didn't really strike it lucky. He was late, and he predicted something that didn't happen anyway. He said October 1914. The war had been in full swing for months before that.
Scholar:The bottom line is simply this. If 607 is wrong then you have to have a replacement year.
That is faulty logic. If someone sees that I am not at a particular place, they don't need to know where I am to know that I am not there.
The date for the capture of Jerusalem on March 16, 597BC (corresponding with Nebuchadnezzar's 9th year; Jeremiah 52:4) is known exactly by archaeologists, so any doubt as to the exact year for the destruction in 588/7/6 provides no support for the 607 dogma. -

only I never get chance too interupt in time
You've never once been able to beat them to it... Doesn't that suggest that it is just possible that your mind is playing tricks on you; that just maybe you're 'remembering' just after someone has said something that you thought it just before they said it, when really you are perhaps just remembering them say it a moment ago and your brain got its wires crossed.
Of course quite often people say things that are bleedingly obvious that you can say what they were going to say anyway... happens to me quite often but I haven't placed any ads as a psychic just yet - but I knew I was going to say that. -

HOW MANY JW'S DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHTBULB?

Changing lightbulbs is a conscience matter. Individual Christians should not be criticized for changing lightbulbs, or from refraining to do so, in harmony with their Bible-trained conscience.
The lightbulb of revealed truth appears to be on the blink and should be changed as soon as possible. -

Another function of "some"
When I wrote to the Society about the 607 issue, I included the fact that Jeremiah 29:10 is rendered in most bibles as "70 years for Babylon" rather than "at Babylon", with a footnote with a nice long list of translations that conflict with theirs.
Their reply kindly acknowledged that some translations had that rendering.
