  However, the claim was that the use of Jesus in JW literature had significantly decreased since the 1950s. It hasn't. The fact that it hasn't does not make JWs any more or less 'Christian'.

  It will only find the exact word unless an asterisk is added to the end. Searching for Christ will only find Christ, but Christ* will find Christ, Christian, Christmas, etc.

  Putting a phrase in quotes only matches the exact phrase instead of each separate word. Putting a single word in quotes has no effect.

  No, there is no basis for that myth. It will even find the embarrassing ones. The Publications Index on the other hand is a bit... selective.

  I'm sorry, I can't give an example off the top of my head - but I could have sworn I read that somewhere.

  I'm aware of the rumor. It just isn't true.

  When I did the research yesterday I used these numbers from the 2011 cd

  Um... no. Your graph for Jesus was entirely wrong for all years beyond the 1960s. Such a discrepancy does not exist on the 2011 Watchtower Library CD, and nor would it yield incomplete results for the year 2011.

  Hmmm... thanks for Boolean Search Operations 101. Sigh. As there was no count of any words other than Jesus and Jehovah, introducing 'Christ' is not particularly relevant.

  The OP lied. That is all. Doesn't matter how anyone spins the 'methodology'.

  The second ('Jehovah') chart I produced gave the same results as in the OP. There was no different 'methodology'. The figures for the 'Jesus' chart in the OP were just wrong.

  When factoring "Jesus", one should also factor "Christ" and discount the number of times that "Jesus Christ" is used.

  That would only be useful if there were any objective value in the magazine referring to Jesus (or any alternative name) any particular number of times.

  The somewhat sinister claim was that the magazine had gradually reduced the number of references to Jesus. The claim was a lie.

  Why WT translates Parousia as "Presence" and not "Coming" (Matt. 24:3)?

  wt had translated "parousia" as presence instead of "coming".

  it has explained time and again that in 1914, jesus came invisibly and since then, we are living in the last days under his invisible presence.. now i was a bit puzzled if that would really be the appropriate translation after reading matthew 28:19, 20.. 19 "therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit,20and teaching them to obey everything i have commanded you.

  and surely i am with you always, to the very end of the age.".

  The whole 'parousia' = 'presence' thing is irrelevant misdirection.

  Parousia does mean 'presence', at least in modern Greek. (See for yourself.)

  But that's not the point. Jesus didn't come or arrive or become present or do any other thing in 1914. Nothing significant happened in October 1914, and especially not anything remotely resembling what the Bible Students had 'expected'.

  Jesus, if he ever actually existed at all, died a long time ago, and he ain't coming back.

  context is all, Satan is mentioned too, and the stalking, talking snake.

  Jehovah, Jesus, Satan, and the magic snake all have one thing in common: they're not real.

  It doesn't really matter how often any of them is mentioned in The Watchtower. And there's definitely no point lying about it.
