  one of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.

  unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.

  jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

  That isn't really what people have said. At least I certainly haven't. What has been said is that the rate of growth has declined. And that is indeed the case. It is also the case that in many countries, the rate of growth is lower than population growth, which results in a relative decline.

  And the countries that are seeing the most growth tend to be those that are less sustainable because the people in those countries have less money to give.

  Being extremely intelligent they didnt realise that bigger bce years are earlier and perhaps thought he started to reign in 587 bce and after a few years eventually destroyed jeruslame in 607.

  There is no evidence, even in very old Bible Students literature, that Charles Russell or later Watch Tower leaders did not realise that BCE years count backwards. (Though it did take them several decades to realise there was no 'year 0'.)

  The problem is that even if you had proof to the contrary which is tons of archaeological evidence - it won't matter to someone who thinks that the bible is 100% correct.

  The thing is, the Bible does not actually support the JW dogma at all. Their 607 doctrine contradicts various scriptures, and ignores or distorts the context of others. So even if the Bible is 100% correct, JWs are still wrong.

  And the jehovahsjudgement site goes even further and provides its own wrong interpretations of the '70 years for Tyre' and the '40 years for Egypt' that contradict the Watch Tower Society's wrong interpretations of those same things.

  In any event, Daniel 2:44 clearly has something to do with Jesus with the clear association to Daniel 7:13,14.

  Nope. The 'Jesus' story (including derivative works such as Revelation) was simply written to fit the plot of an earlier vague story in Daniel.

  Similar fraud is performed by Christians in the retroactive assignment of Jesus as the 'Messiah' of Daniel 9:25-26, which was actually an oblique reference to Cyrus. See also Isaiah 45:1.

  There is nothing at all in Daniel that specifically identifies anything to do with Jesus.

  Technically, since Daniel 2 has nothing to do with Jesus at all, it doesn't prove or disprove anything at all about 'Christ' establishing his 'kingdom' in 1914 (or any other year). It only proves that their interpretation of Daniel 2 is, at best, flimsy.

  JW beliefs about 1914 are disproved by other means.

  Lars:

  For the record, Daniel clearly dates his own book. He served under Nebuchadnezzar II as well as Darius the Mede and was still alive when Cyrus came to the throne.

  I, Jeffro, in this fourth year of Elvis Presley, say that the author of Daniel couldn't possibly have backdated his work.

  this is one thing that i just can not seem to resolve in my mind and i want people... in particular diehard christians to please explain something to me.. we have humans on 7 continents for thousands of years before the bible was written and in many places for 2000 years after the bible was written had no concept of christianity at all.

  never hearing of jesus or reading the book of revelation.

  they had sophisticated religious belilefs in many cases - and venerated god or gods and no doubt these people really wanted to please these dieties.
