Simon:
The other rediculous part of the story
Really? "The other"? Is there any part that isn't ridiculous?
the main premise of the bible is that satan challenged jehovahs authority and humans fell for the lie so god then gave man / satan a chance to rule to "prove" that they needed him and couldn't do it themselves.
this was for the benefit of the angels watching who are presumably easily swayed too.. not really believable and some stunning gaps of logic but let's go with it for now.. what happened next in the bible?
well, man was doing pretty good.

Copyright protection for any given publication is presumed to last for a generation from the date of publication, which in this case was 1950. For legal reasons this protection is presumed to be for thirty years. Thus any publication of the Watchtower's made more than thirty years ago falls into what is termed the public domain, and can be accessed by the people for purposes of research.
Incorrect. Copyright for anonymous works published in 1950 in the United States is 95 years after date of publication. Copyright terms vary in other countries.
so why not female governing body?
why not female anything?
i mean, i kind of know the answer.
You can have female annointed and they get to rule with JC over the minions.
Because it's a delusion based on wishful thinking. It's perfectly fine to offer an 'opportunity' that will never actually happen.
this may come as a shock to some people, but the current forum structure was kind of thrown together without much real thought and then evolved a bit over time.
there are a few things that particularly grate on me and areas where i don't think the subjects work particularly well.
'friends' is a bit vague and becomes a dumping ground, news & world events vs politics & current affairs is hard to decide sometimes, child abuse is a scandal but isn't contained withing 'scandals & coverups' etc.... with a new forum platform imminent, it's a good time to solicit ideas to improve things.
hmmn, that would mean linking identities together. It's not something that I really want to promote so probably won't build that in. Really a person should have a single identity.
But will there be any improvement to search options?

Terry:
I would like more time to edit a Topic or a post.
Yes please.
Will the new system (no pun intended) show a notification when a private message is received?
Will it be possible to change profile details? (e.g. location)
It would be really (really) nice if there were more options for searching for previous posts too. (e.g. date range, poster)
pm me ... always looking for new friends.
if not...your bad .
i'm pretty cool.. .
Yep
it seems that more often than not, when the watch tower society says something about biblical chronology, they're probably wrong.
this seems to be the case even for uncontroversial matters!

5 While he was yet speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and, look! a voice out of the cloud, saying: "This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to him."
Yes, you like to quote from your favourite storybook. You're not actually providing any relevant context for anything at all, or even any evidence that Jesus actually existed or that he (or the magic voice from the sky ) ever said the words ascribed. Now please go away.

So if the 70 weeks prophecy started in the first century then when does it end?
It didn't. Please go away.

You tried amazon already? The 'Look Inside' feature?
Thanks. I don't usually use the Amazon site. I had tried the 'Look Inside' link but it didn't seem to do anything. I have since determined that the site doesn't like the fact that I block cookies by default.
if any of you still believe in god(s), please pray to him/her/them and ask that she/he/they send(s) bad enough weather to my area to hinder travel, but not cut off power.. is that request too weird for this forum?.
someday i'll share more details.
peace, love, brotherhood..

I'll ask Thor and Zeus to send some lightning your way.
