More fear and paranoia WT-style! (11/15/13 WT)
by LostGeneration ini usually dismiss the "drinking the kool aid" scenarios that are posted from time to time, but the latest wt has another bit of fearmongering.
the quote from page 20, para 17. elders who are reading this article can draw some useful conclusions from the account we have just considered: (1) the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.
(2) when the assyrian attacks, the elders must be absolutely convinced that jehovah will deliver us.

I just stumbled across this on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/1jnsx8/what_is_happening_in_october/
Apparently (can someone confirm this?) there is a presentation for only baptized JWs in October (not sure if it's only in the US?). Some in the discussion at Reddit have said it's a streaming of the Annual Meeting, but the GB have never seen reason to do that in the past, despite the technology previously being available.
It seems odd to me that baptized JWs are to be told something in October so close to the 'warning' in the November 15 Watchtower (received prior to the October 'presentation') to obey whatever strange instructions they may receive...

At some point soon the org is going to have to get the great tribulation ball rolling so I get the feeling they will trying something to get the public to turn on them and start persecuting them in some way that will get the average JW to fall in line.
Maybe they could raise the concerns of 'worldly' governments by printing suspect statements in The Watchtower where they tell JWs to obey their instructions no matter how strange they sound.

Now it is clear that the JWs must keep TWO contradictory thoughts in their minds at all times.
1) The Watchtower provides direction and information from Jehovah. It is spirit directed.
2) The Watchtower is NOT inspired by Jehovah. They never say "These are the words of Jehovah."Well... yeah... it is a very strange (and entirely meaningless) distinction. The only reason for it is that it's their 'out' for being wrong. It's not a new distinction though.

This is an important point so I am going to post it again."At that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from Jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint."
The Watchtower is saying that the instructions they give WILL BE FROM JEHOVAH. This means that some time in the future The Watchtower words will be inspired words! No, it doesn't mean that at all. They always say JWs receive "direction" from "Jehovah's organization". The fact that they know they might say things that are stupid (or not "practical from a human standpoint") doesn't actually mean they're claiming any shift in their source of information.
They have never provided any practical distinction between "spirit directed" ('magic') and "inspired" ('slightly different magic') anyway, both of which are largely undefined.

Countdown to 2014
by Alfred into the governing body of jehovah's witnesses..... the 100th anniversary of jesus' taking the throne is 40 months away.
this means you have less than 40 months to dazzle us with your verbal gymnastics and explain why armaggeddon hasn't started yet.
we realize that freddy is no longer with us, so before releasing any "new light tm" regarding 1914, please endeavor to be a lot more creative and make an effort not to insult our intelligence... (we now have more ways to call you out on your bs, so you'll need to really put your heads together on this).

I wonder if the WT have done enough to play down the significance of 100 years of only two things happening, namely not much, and sod all ?
I'm not so sure their November 15 Watchtower really plays down 2014... It seems like they're hedging their bets between 'say something malevolent just in case' and 'don't specifically mention 1914'.

Even MORE evidence for "Jesus died on a Cross"?
by ILoveTTATT ini like jwfact's http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/cross-or-stake.php.
it would probably be interesting to add the information found in this article:.

mP:
Well lets start at the beginning, and talk about Nazareth.
A great deal of the content of the 'gospels' is obviously made up, even if there was some political revolutionary called 'Jesus'. This includes the 'Nazarene' thing, which was an attempt at 'fulfilling' a supposed 'Messianic prophecy'.
The thing is the Jesus of the Bible is essentially fictitious even if loosely based on a particular individual.

It's little wonder that this fear-mongering propaganda is to be studied early in 2014.
But although the end is 'so close', it didn't stop them putting in the 'give us money' article.
