The WT might try but I don't see any similarity at all between them and the Vatican. The U.S. has treated the Vatican as a nation for years so the laws of that relationship apply.
I think the gov't would treat the WTBTS more like they did the Branch Davidians than they do the Vatican.

---"hey, you're still young...enjoy the college life...it goes by so quickly, never to return. And, btw , you don't have to worry so much about your weight until you turn 30... then your metabolism goes blatooeee... and you can gain weight staring at an apple."---
I agree, have a good time and don't worry so much about it. Seems like you already exercise and tend to know what to eat. But have some pizza and beer now and then, you'll survive
I'm 40 now and I've gained about 5 pounds since I got out of high school (I'm 175 now). I eat right, AND I eat total crap now and then, I drink beer, hasn't killed me (or made me fat) yet. Oh, and today I could probably beat the crap out of 18 year old me back in 1983.
So even if you do gain a few pounds, it's not the end of the world. Your real friends (and girlfriends too) should like you for you, not because YOU think you're hot.
My gf has about 20 pounds on me and calls herself fat all the time. To me, she is absolutely beautiful! It's all a matter of taste. Ever seen a big guy walking along with a girl and wonder what she sees in him? He's probably a good guy and that's alot more important that looking like a pic in a magazine. -

I agree that the U.S. should never have been there in the first place, but now that we are I feel the only right way to handle things is to continue.
The death and destruction that is taking place there now is bad, but I believe it would be much worse if the U.S. were to leave. I think massive "punishments" of different groups would take place, even entire towns being leveled (with the people of course).
How what's taking place now could be a surprise, I have no idea. But now that we're in I think we have to stick it out for the long term. -

You could be blunt and to the point at the doors. Let them know what JW's really believe, billions will die at God's hand at armageddon, the bible was only written for the anointed, stuff like that.
"Hi, my name is *****, I was asking people at their doors today if they'd like to live in a world like the one shown in this picture?"
"Yes, it is pleasant looking isn't it? Well, do you know that God promises such a world in the near future to those who serve his channel, the WTBTS? Once God destroys all the wicked people, people who don't serve his channel, this is the world he's promised for us to live in! Won't that be wonderful?" -

For some reason I always thought it would be 1993. Just seemed about right to me.
A couple of days ago my grandmother was going on about how bad the world is getting and how close we are to the end. Not sure how she knows that, she's blind, hangs around with JW's all the time and sits and listens to Fox News all day at home. Like most JW's, she hears only the bad going on and ignores anything else. -

SHOULD I PIONEER OR COLLEGE?
by stillAwitness indo you think the wt has become more lenient or stricter over the year?.
i am 21 and i remember just 4 years ago going to college was looked at as something negative.

I think College is the way to go. As mentioned, it'll prepare you for the world you actually live in much better than pioneering will.
I did NOT go to college because I of course thought "the end was near", that was in 1983. Many many jobs are out of my reach without a degree and I eventually decided the only way I'd get into the business world I wanted to be in was to work for myself. I look for available jobs from time to time and even though I have alot of experience and success now, without a degree I'll just be skipped over for many jobs. It would be nice to know I had something to fall back on, but I'm not sure that I do.
Also, I knew an older couple a few years ago in KY that pioneered together all their lives, no college, never had kids, because "the end was near". Well, now they're in their 80's and he's losing his mind and making her life miserable and they have no children or money to sustain them. Did the congregation help these long time devoted JW's? Not more than driving them to some doctor's appointments and visiting them now and then. They put their all into the org and now they're dropped when they're no longer useful. It's very sad.
Oh, and don't overlook the social stagnation that can happen by staying away from people because they're not JW's. It's not fun trying to learn how to interact with people and make friends when you're 40 when you should have learned years ago.
