I once found an envelope in the KH door that said "To the Elders". It was a fat envelope, somebody wrote ALOT. I set it on a table inside the door.
I was there on a Friday night to check in a literature order while I left my wife and daughter home to spend a boring evening.

When people call me while I'm on the phone and instead of leaving a message, just keep calling over and over.

Did Rutherford, Knorr or Franz have any kids?
by kid-A indoes anybody know if any of these 3 had children?
if so, did they remain in the wts and gain any positions of influence?.
i always thought the wts had very little regard for children, not just the fact that they expect the dubs to sacrifice their childrens lives over the blood issue, but even the designs of the kingdom halls, no rooms or activities for children, just forced indoctrination.. could this stance be the result of a series of presidents who had no understanding or care for children themselves?

I heard Franz say in a talk once "People ask me why I never got married. Well, I was looking for the perfect woman, but when I found her, it turned out she was looking for the perfect man."
It would be my assumption that if he never married then he never had kids. If he did have any kids, I doubt anyone would ever find out about it :) -

I was married for 12 years and never once did I seriously consider being unfaithful. Did I peek at girls? Sure I did, but that's where it ended.
Now that I'm single again (for about 2 1/2 years), I may or may not choose to marry again, but if I do then it's the same committment I had before. She is my wife forever, or at least until she decides to screw one of my friends (like my last wife did).
Being single I do enjoy the idea that I can date different girls now and then, but I'm comfortable with marriage too, and being completely faithful to my wife. -

Hmm, I thought I read the whole article. It seems to me that it agrees with the WT view:
---"She’s right. People need a “consensus on the sin.” The answer is the “original sin”—we are all sinners (in Adam). We are not “innocent” as she says—we are sinners. As Pastor D. James Kennedy of Florida recently said on a national USA television broadcast about the book Why Bad Things Happen to Good People: “They don’t! There aren’t any ‘good’ people!"---
If I understood the article correctly, then if the article's view is correct, and the WT view is correct, God is cruel. He's punishing billions of people (for one man's sin) with neglect and then, according to the WT view, annihilation in the future. How sweet is that? Makes me want to bow down and thank him right here and now. -

When I was young, before I could swim, I jumped into a pool went under and blacked out. My mom jumped in and pulled me out and saved my life.
When my daughter was young she was running toward a busy street and I ran after her and grabbed her before she got hit.
My dog tried to chase a cat by running into a street and I held the leash tight so he wouldn't get hurt.
I knew a family who's house caught fire and the father almost died trying to rescue his kids, but he got them out.
I wish God had the same interest in humans as people do for others and even for their pets. -

Society worried about direction of JW youths - posting online
by truthseeker ina recent thread talked about certain elder's views of jw youth posting on myspace.com.
it seems the gb is trying to maintain the "image" of jw youth, as dedicated to full time service, pioneers, ministerial servants, all reaching out for greater "privileges of service.".

If I'd read her profile when I was a teen (no internet back then), I would have thought of her as a pretty strong JW. Most of my friends (including me) wouldn't have mentioned being a JW at all.
I did hang around on a few bbs's as a teen and never once mentioned I was a JW or even acted like a JW. -

---"Ummm they are under the influence of a mind-controlling borg that removes all natural affection and puts the fear of the borg into them"---
I never really thought about it until I left but it's really like a parent child relationship between most JW's and the org.
It's so common that children raised in abusive homes tend toward that same abuse. Not all do of course, but many do. If they've been beaten or screamed at all their lives many tend to treat their children the same way. Since the org treats it's members like stupid simple minded children that must be kept in line, then the members tend toward treating others this way. Maybe explains why they treat those who leave as very simple minded foolish people. Not even considering that they have a good reason to leave but only that they should do what they're told and that they're being "bad" and must now be punished. -

Latest news about Pro-JW group on Myspace
by DevonMcBride inthe elders and the governing body are cracking down on jw myspace groups.
here is the latest from the owner of one that i'm subbed to.. im sorry to all who just recently joined myspace but im deleting my account and if ne one wants to keep the group goin thats up to them... i dont know whats goin to happen if i delete my mysapce i dont know if the group will automatically get deleted.... .
now for the reason im leaving is that my elders are saying that the po's met last week and the major issue with society now is the internet and myspace came up as one of the topics and for the elders to talk about this with the young adults and kids in the hall... the pretty much told us if u dont take urself off we will have to have a meeting with u about it... this is advice from not us the elders but from the governing body... sooo im not one to go agaisnt my elders even though i dont want to leave becasue i met some wonderful people and im soo greatful for that... if ne one wants to keep in touch with me here is my phone number... .

---"sooo im not one to go agaisnt my elders even though i dont want to leave becasue i met some wonderful people"---
This is so sad. Young people just want to have friends and the GB shuts them down. I realize it's this person's choice to listen to them and leave myspace, but pressure and threats when you still live with your JW parents is scary. Yet another young person has their life spelled out for them by a bunch of old men who couldn't care less how it messes up these kids lives. It really upsets me.
I don't think the WTBTS can win their battle with the internet, but maybe they can slow down the exodus maybe with these tactics. -

When you all left the truth.........
by defd indid you leave your sense of humors behind as well?
-
thom
As a JW I always had to keep my sense of humor in check. Always seemed to me that JW's really don't have much of a sense of humor. Now I can let loose and not worry about offending everyone everytime I open my mouth as I'm sarcastic (probably too sarcastic).
I'm surprised to even see this question. Do you really find many with a sense of humor in the org?
