Japan's rich buy organs from executed Chinese prisoners
by flyphisher in.
hundreds of well-off japanese and other nationals are turning to china's burgeoning human organ transplant industry, paying tens of thousands of pounds for livers and kidneys, which in some cases have been harvested from executed prisoners and sold to hospitals.

If they are executed for their organs I would have a problem, otherwise I think it is a good thing.
I saw a program on this several years ago. It implied that a penalty of death had been given for many more crimes than it had in the past. Including petty theft. That the industry of selling organs had really grown and many more were receiving a death penalty.
They showed an execution of several men, some for somewhat petty crimes. They had been given coagulents to reduce blood loss and were shot in a specific location to avoid damaging organs (other than the brain I would assume).

"just a one-time close friend who, evidently, passed."
That's the same that I have heard from my grandmother. I haven't seen him since I was a kid, I remember playing tic tac toe with him and him letting me win most of the time. He used to visit my grandparents alot when we lived in NY.

Attention Elders: Could we get the list of talks, and maybe even some....
by Check_Your_Premises inof the outlines for said talks.
posting here probably wouldn't be the best thing, but it would be nice if we could get them up at reexamine.org.
for those who never joined, or don't go to the hall regularly, yet have loved ones who do, it would be nice to know what the guy is going to say.. cyp

anyway how far in advance is the topic of the public talk usually announced? Is it announced?
The talk is usually announced at the preceeding service meeting. Usually at least one month of talks are posted on the info board.

Good cop, Bad Cop...JW elder style
by Dune inwell i'm still a witness so i was out in field service yesterday with this brother.
our conversation hit the usual stuff cars, television, movies.
then he went on to relate how about a month ago, the two head elders (head as in, the other elders really dont matter)took him into the back room and fryed him.

Most of the time that I was in (my whole life) I thought that these stories were exaggerated, that this stuff didn't really happen. Of course that all changed when I had an elder angry at me, that's when I got to see what can happen.
This elder moved into my congregation because apparently that was the way he would have access to cause me trouble. He rallied his groups and they went on the attack, I never thought this kind of thing happened, but it sure does.
I posted the whole thing here if anyone cares to read it: http://tinyurl.com/7fg2d

I never did. I always had a problem with the org getting into people's personal business.
Of course I've had it happen to me before. -

With the new Disfellowshipping procedure, How will the congo know who left?
by booker-t inwith the "new" way jw's are expelled from the congregations how would the congregation know who left on their own(disassociated) themselves or was disfellowshipped for "wrongdoing".
when i left the elders told me that they would tell the congregation that i "disassociated"my self and that would be that.
the whole congregation would know that i left on my own and was not expelled for immorality or wrongdoing.

I agree. If more are leaving on their own now than used to, they most likely don't want the r&f to know that. I would think most would assume df when they hear the announcement.

I love winter here because it's finally not hot! But I also liked winter when I lived in Indy. I enjoyed the snow and the cold but I worked at home so I really didn't have to deal with it like most people did. I could just enjoy it.
Right now I have the a/c on here :) -

Did you record your hours in field service correctly?
by free2beme ini always hated the shepherding call where they asked you to try and spend more time in field service, as they saw your hours turned in were low.
at a young age, i learned how easy it was to just write down what ever felt right.
i spent about 30 hours a month in field service as a pioneer for two years and never had anyone say anything to me.

I learned that an hour or two on the report was better than nothing. It kept the elders away. So when I stopped going out at all, I'd turn in a little bit of time each month.
I did that for quite a while but then decided to stop and not turn anything in. Then they told me if I had no time to turn in a report with zero on it and for some reason that really irritated me so I made sure to never do that.
I hadn't been in service at all probably the last 3 years I was in. But I stopped turning in time only the last year.
