What are JW's going to do with their "outdated" Rev book and Dan proph book
by booker-t ini was just wondering what is going to happen when the leaders at wt headquaters see that the revelation grand climax book and the pay attention to daniel's prophecies book all prove false.
are they going to rewrite both books and call it "new light" and somehow say that they were wrong about the beast of revelation being the un and now the un will be considered holy?
are jw's going to have to praise the un as from jehovah and jesus?

help! what does a jw say to the elders about DOUBTS?
by Cordelia inmy friend has been struggling in the 'truth' for a while, she was never really a model jw and since ive been dfed and her little sister was abused shes wanted to leave but cant seem to find the way to do it.
so she rung me today and told me she is meeting with the elders (two i think) as she has told them she has questions and wants answers.. i think her overall hope is that they dont answer her questions and she finds the strength to leave!
(she says sometimes shed like them to df her but i think thats just coz she wants to go so much!.

I think you're right about they type of questions you think she's going to ask. I would think the elders would just take it as someone looking for excuses unless she brings out stuff that really show the dishonesty of the org.

I had a job that I loved. I got to travel all over the world for free. I was installing and modifying equipment at customer sites, and teaching classes on how to use it. It was alot of fun and I really miss it.
The company was sold to a larger corporation and I got out before the sale, as I saw where things were headed. My job would have been dissolved and I'd have been stuck in a non-compete contract.
I guess a good traveling job is what I'd really like to do again.
Now I run a shop using the equipment that I used to install. The rep we had in Japan was so impressed with all the work I'd done there over the years that he bought back a machine from Toyota and offered it to me for shipping charges only. It's a $150,000 machine that I got for $2,500! Working hard really paid off for me in that situation. -

JW says they're told to report molestation to the police?
by thom injust got this email from a jw about an hour ago: .
"i just went to an anti-jw site.
i was surprised to learn that we cover up child molesters, especially since it was announced that we should report child abuse accusations to the police.

---"The gotcha is that if the accused molester does not confess to the elders or there are not two witnesses, the person who reports the accused to the police is subject to being DFed for slander."---
That's what I was thinking, Elsewhere. I'm thinking that they're just saying to go to the police as a legal tactic. Like in Bulgaria saying those who take blood are not df'd. But they end up da'd so what's the difference? Just playing with the laws to keep out of legal trouble.
What's sad is my friend just eats it up thinking there's no issue. He's not in that circumstance (gladly for him and his family), so he may never know what really happens.
I guess the reality of how they're handling the subject is getting more clear to me now. -

Are you sick of "Who's to Blame?"
by upside/down ini can't stand any of the news networks.... they all don't get it..
the "blame" game is all they care about.
polls, opinions, "experts", clergymen, analysts....

It sure is a good way to keep the news going. Media just loves controversy.
So do politicians.
It's like a guy that causes a car accident and is running up to everyone afterward saying "It wasn't my fault! He did it! I didn't cause it!" while some person is laying in the street needing help. It shows where priorities are. People more concerned with covering their own butts than helping people. Pretty sick actually. -

I remember studying with a guy once from the Live Forever book. One part of the book we read I found that his copy and my copy had different wording, with basically conflicting meaning. It was then that I realized first hand that they can and do change books in later releases, without saying a word.

Thanks for all the comments.
I've always been under the impression that the elders will report only if legally required to, otherwise not. But the surprise to me was that it sounded like he (friend in email) was saying that a JW should report, whether they're an elder or not. I've just assumed that it was discouraged to report it, but if they're announcing it that sounds different.
I wonder if it's just a response to news reports (probably) and to keep out of legal trouble. I doubt it's any concern for individual, just legal concern (in my opinion).
The email came from NY state (not Brooklyn). As of last year when I left I don't ever remember hearing anything about the subject at the KH. But maybe I wasn't paying attention (likely). -

The reason his email confused me is all the comments I've read about people being discouraged or worse by the org for reporting to the police.
Are you saying that it has been announced or written by the WTBTS that it SHOULD be reported? How long has that been going on? Has something changed?
I don't have any experience in such circumstances so I only am aware by what I've read, but his email and your reply are both a surprise to me.
So if an elder discourages someone from reporting, he is going AGAINST the direction of the WTBTS? -

Wow, I feel lucky.
I work at home. I spend about $20/month on gas. Taking my daughter to school, shopping and running around town.
Changes in gas prices have had almost no effect on me. -

Just got this email from a JW about an hour ago:
"I just went to an anti-JW site. I was surprised to learn that we cover up child molesters, especially since it was announced that we should report child abuse accusations to the police. The only thing the posts had remotely correct was that a person doesn't get disfellowshipped unless he (assuming its a he) admits wrongdoing, or there is more than one person accusing him."
Did I miss something? This is the first time I've heard they're encouraged to report to the police.
