Broke in the sense that debt has exceeded income. Just look at the dollar index, its falling. The US alone had something like 120 TRILLION in unfunded/funded obligations, while the world in general has 1.6 QUADRILLION in debt via derivitives. If ALL debt was wiped out, there would be no cash in circulation - interesting, isn't it... our money, as is most is based on debt and fractional reserve - more debt than assets.

Banks and gov't bonds. Central banks print money to lend to banks and they also print money to allow their own treasury to buy its own debt. Its actually a depression. If you look at stats we are currently worse off than the Great Depression. The gov't numbers are cooked and they are down playing the crisis...

Thanks!! Those were items I was thinking of as well. I might throw a JW spin ;) on the template picture with a city burning on one side and then a nice dressed family on the other side of the page walking up over a hill with green pastures, and a nice sun rising... hahahaha

How do you feel about the pledge of allegiance now?
by SweetBabyCheezits infor you us citizens (and those whose nations have a similar patriotic oath), how do you feel about your children saying the pledge in school if it's customary?.
my daughter is in 3rd grade and part of her school's morning routine includes the pledge.
when we stopped attending meetings a year ago, my wife and i explained to her that we don't agree with the jw "idolatry" classification so, naturally, she started joining her class in the pledge.. fast forward to the present: my wife and i are both non-theists who want to raise ethical, caring, tolerant children, but also children who aren't afraid to stand apart, especially when that stand isn't popular.

I'm getting ready to launch an online store but have a few questions maybe some can help with. The last thing I need to finish is the template. I have someone ready to do this. I am wondering though, about the template. I don't want the store to be the typical doom and gloom - store will sell survival kits, walking sticks, camo, and even jewlery for women (hey, urban survival :) ). Anyways, I was thinking about using a template that is more in line with JW depictions of Armageddon (puke I know). Where maybe a disaster in the background, with a family coming over a hill or something and surviving. That was one thought, to offer hope. Yea I know, survival sites are geared towards doom, but its kind of my hobby. Thoughts or inputs on the design welcome. Thanks!

Worldly people don't suck
by streets76 inmy wife (never a jw) is ill and undergoing a series of treatments that will last for many months.
it's a physical, emotional, and financial drain on both of us.. my wife has run her own business for many years and has an extensive client list that includes some very well-to-do folks.
one of those clients called her one day and offered to pay all of her medical expenses.

A few years ago I had a major life altering event and almost died. I was airvac'd to another city (close by ~100 miles) and remained in ICU for several weeks. Its ironic that almost EVERYONE I work with made the journey up to the hospital to visit me, sit and watch movies (they brought movies and a dvd player), read a book, food for my family, etc. My wife did not know anyone in this city but since my jobs main office is in this city one woman up there (who I do not know) called my wife and told her she could use her vehicle to get around town and visit me. Another co worker who had never met my wife offered to let my wife stay in her house until I was released. My wife was very moved. Not ONE witness from my city visited me, and only a couple of elders from that city attempted to visit me (probably wondering if I was going to take blood), and even though I was heavily sedated I told my wife NO I do not want them here!! I was later told that they were outside the doorway and heard me. In fact when my wife left the room I told the nurse under no condition do I want JW's in my room. She said she understood. It didn't really matter as no other JW's showed up. I never received any calls, no visits, etc. after being discharged and released home. However, I got calls from coworkers, clients, etc from all over the country wanting to know how I was and if I needed any help.
I can tell you to this day that I know who my true friends are, and "worldly" people are far from "worldly"...

Went round and round last night

last night at my parents home she starts in with me on how she is going to ask my sig other to the memorial (puke), and that i should not forbid her to go.
we went round and round about how the jw's are bs, gave many examples and it always came back to some twisted circular reasoning, that i still do not fully understand.

My Dad tries to remain neutral - he has to live with her... ;) We are all used to it - she beats the JW drum on occasion, but this is the first time where it got into a big conversation/debate/arguement.

Don't think so. Not with the existing debt, and money to be printed for the reconstruction, AND who will be buying our debt since Japan is the second largest purchaser of US bonds (in fact they are starting to sell off)???
