Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

i'm not totally new here, as i'm reading since some time...then i tried to sign up but had some technical issue with the email,eventually recovered..... i'm from north italy, for your info from the region where the covid is worse.

i'm male, generation millennial(...unfortunately not the overlapped generation :))) ) ..sorry to don't go in so much details, but i'm pimo ;).

Welcome aboard, Italiancalipso - you'll love this site. Look forward to hearing about JW life in northern Italy and COVID. I've an adult child who attended meetings in northern Italy and Rome couple decades ago - mid 2,000s (maybe). Love northern Italy - been on several flights into Milan.

i am no longer a study.

during the onset of the pandemic the person who used to be my bible study teacher began to reach out to me.

initially, i just thought that she wanted to know that i was well.

They must really be desperate during COVID as they're digging up names/contacts. Someone on board mentioned a governing goon advising them to contact ex-JWs (and anyone else they can hound) and beg them to return to Jehovah but this is probably normal. I knew a couple of female JWs married to doctors who thought higher education was the devil but certainly enjoyed their lifestyle/status never having to be concerned about employment. Such hypocrites. Of course, they were JWs before marriage and only one out of 5 married to professionals finished high school. Only one of the 5 could afford Gucci/Louboutins on a limited basis -- designer wardrobe - few are at the top of the food chain. The others may have owned one luxury item. Most professionals wives have been employed for decades for extras.

I would tell the JW that you appreciate the Mormans' value and respect for higher education (like the Jewish faith - not that higher education is necessary for everyone) and block her number.

Thanks for the share - I like it. Some of the jr. high schools have great dance programs today (whatever it's called - I know it's not called 'jazz') and the recitals are amazing/very competitive.

LHGal - I think the virologist interviewed on the Joe Rogan video someone linked under one of the Covid 19 topics (maybe Simon's COVID update thread) kind of indicated what you're referring to - we just breathe it. I may have interpreted him incorrectly. That same specialist has an update out and he wasn't that positive re/the 2nd wave or opening the country back up but who knows.

I don't trust a vaccine any time soon but they certainly need effective treatment that the medical professionals can prescribe on an out-patient basis short of individuals being hospitalized. Politicians (governors) are playing games with lives for the election. Lawsuits are flying - how many needless deaths will there be.

I will find Snare's topic and read about Zing - appreciate.

I don't know but those 2 doctors on youtube (I didn't watch but heard a bit on news) are in the heart of the world's bread (food) basket and I hope the COVID has at least leveled off/controllable so the AG biz can resume. Farmers in bad shape. Obama axed farmers bad during the smelt fish/aqueduct crisis - no water/crops died and more food lines for migrant workers who work the valley. That was handled foolishly, of course.
