You're welcome, millie210 - good luck re/your political decisions. It's good you've an open mind to consider it all - time consuming but the news blasting 24/7 helps - I'll leave it there/hahaha. In the late 60s it seemed so obvious to side with the Dems re/the Viet Nam horror - in San Francisco we were quite aware of the planes arriving with bodies of deceased soldiers. My cousins (males - and I had quite a few w/my mother having 7 siblings) subject to the VN war. Female cousins - not a problem back then but I've known of a few military women/high positions here - quite educated women with families. Diifferent world today and, thankfully, much has changed.

lastmanstanding - why is my area full of canadians - they flee here and become citizens and couple care less about dual-citizenship (if it's even allowed now or ever was). They really race down here when they're sick and need a doctor and MRI machine. Everyone use to be from the east coast and today the fleeing Canadians are just as many.
Canadians told me the disadvantaged there are contained in areas in Canada and patrolled/not allowed to run all over. Maybe it's changed - I was told this about 5-6 yrs. ago. Doctors have many Canadian patients or the ones that can afford to travel.

OTWO - Recall corruption/fraud in the Puerto Rican crisis but I've not researched. Puerto Rican friends here love it's beauty but never want to return because of the crime/thugs.
millie210 - thx for the great link - Lee Greenwood use to be a dealer on the Las Vegas strip. I think that hit alone set him up for life. He and Cheryl Crow (and countless others) have done well for themselves considering they use to stand and flip cards (low or no education required) in the city where that ugly word 'capitalism' runs on high.

by Studyover induring tonight's meeting the brother seemed to read out something along the lines of "you may be helping a poor sister who you think may be struggling, but in turn that sister may be getting financial assistance from the government.
it is always best to stick to jehovah's arrangement in these matters so that help can get to those who most need it, including the worldwide work".
i think it may have been an article about social media platforms initially and how they should be avoided and then this was mentioned.

Elders would ask certain ones in the congregation for monies to cover bills of their faves - made me gag because I knew what their 'faves' were all about.

dub stepped -- you are right. How many times I've read a toxic parent is always forgiven by the abused, adult, child. I don't think it's so bad today - psychology and help has come a long way and not all humans/churches pressure adult children to forgive. Some people are still like that -- very sad.

The case of the 2 infected hairdressers in St. Louis comes to mind - several clients all masked - none that were tested were positive or became ill.
I do know some hospitals - especially when short handed before the mammoth outbreak here/medical personnel being laid off - are negligent and will use any walking breathing human to help them in ER with aged family member. Everyone 'assuming' the heat had killed anything resembling a virus (idiots) and a week later the area gobsmacked with infections/deaths following. Death rate still not down here. Bottom line - many are negligent and know very little about it - obviously, more than previously.

tgnd - question - if medical personnel are required to wear masks then why does COVID 19 infection kill patients - although our friend last week may have contracted the virus in the rehab he was sent to after surgery. He was very unhappy with his experience at rehab facility while there - became sick and transported back to hospital and died of COVID 19. He'd had 2 hip replacements past decade (x-athelete/college baseball player) - took a bad fall few wks ago and was in hospital to have damaged hip redone. Not good. I'd assume rehab personnel are conscientious of wearing masks but perhaps the younger personnel are sloppy about but mask wearing is mandatory here - not that it means anything to some.
It has to be so contagious and my friend (older) working at mall says the younger ones stroll through store with masks hanging half off their faces while laughing, talking, etc. They can get away with it compared to older ones.
Personally know 2 people dying of COVID 19 in one week - the other one a young man infected/died -- father of very young daughter. It's brutal.

I knew an ex JW who worked at the postal service. She caught a couple of employees stealing money out of envelopes and grabbing what they wanted in packages - this was around 2001 - 2003. She'd been promoted and was much higher up than the thieves she worked with. Afraid to report but once she did it was scary - her life was threatened - the police had to protect her. It was an absolute horror story.
