  Prediction: no more changes for a long while

  i’ve noticed a pattern where things don’t go the way i expect them to go and/or whenever i realise there is a trend and, i mentally adjust for the idea that the trend will continue, the trend stops in its tracks.

  so on that basis, and given many people, including myself, and active jws, have been asking ‘what changes will the governing body make next?’ perhaps the (disappointing) answer is: ‘nothing much for a while to come’.

  maybe they’ve made the changes they want for now, and will wait a while and see how it’s received.

  no-zombie - I appreciate/LUV your prognostications (and others) re/the sect's collapse! It's hard to imagine and I'm reluctant to get too excited.

  JW Gonebad - they've had one great run at opportunity and hope that window is closing. Good to hear JWs are enjoying freedom of speech and PIMO -- must be interesting observing. Enjoy the updates and hope the positives continue. "Dropping like flies" -- fantastic.

  But, whether it will deep enough or quick enough to do any good ... is another thing entirely.

  no-zombie -- they've strategic plan in order -- lots of tricks in the bag while in the examination process of WT realities (financials, resources, strengths/weaknesses) as they march along the future pyramid plan. Professionals at the helm while the GB Goon Squad encourage the adherents and toss out a treat or two. Hard to imagine them failing but corporations do at times.

  They're obviously not worried enough or testing the waters of the recent relaxed cold-calling dress/grooming code (sales calls/meetings) before they throw out any additional perks. It would take an insurmountable number of adherents walking away for any positive change.

  I can't imagine this country caring one iota whether the WT is false doctrine -- courts don't want to mess in that arena thus WT skates.

  Thoughts on Likely Upcoming Changes in the Org.

  i am thinking that the "ten year plan" that some have spoken of is the most likely scenario.

  the org.

  has to both attract new members and retain as many existing ones as possible.. so i think they will let the recent changes "bed in" for a while, maybe a year ?

  I can't imagine why anyone would be there in the first place but why leave now with positive, mainstream, changes, on the horizon. Money answereth all things -- MO to retain adherents maybe get lucky pick up some disfellowshipped/disillusioned saps so why leave now -- it's a social club plus they feel protected and serving creator at the same time. They can't rely on the oldies -- they'll soon be on other side of dirt and already have their estate plans in the vault.

  SceVie -- I must see this. Love San Luis Obispo and Sequoia close to Fresno. The San Andreas Fault is a serious one -- flying over area checking out is interesting and commercial pilots sometimes point out. Quakes while skiing at beautiful Mammoth near the Fault (or sleeping😳 with bedroom furniture being moved and unreal loud sounds of the quake) is an experience unlike what I recall growing up in Cali.

  New light on shunning?

  one theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.

  he actually said the words we will never ever change it.. they are slowly deleting all of tony’s videos and now losing court cases and losing government hand outs in places like norway.. it’s looking very likely they will release new light on shunning policy after losing this latest one in norway.. .

  what are the odds they coincidentally get new light from jehovah and lighten up their shunning policy ?.

  I'm so sorry, Always Busy, and agree with you re/the shunning. There's some evil, envious, miserable, people, and the shunning gives them an excuse to act like social misfits. Many have no social skills to begin with and once they're part of the Watchtower it's sealed. Watchtower has done a good job of showing the world what a loser religion it is -- many know about this cult-shunning factor and would never set foot in a bunker/hall.

  So sorry Sea B -- JWs (WT) are ruthless and beyond hope. The religion would never be one of respect - I had many elderly women yrs. ago asking me about the ole fraud, charlatan, Russell, and it's horrible reputation.

  Hailstone message AND everyone will be saved? Questions

  i’ve not been paying close attention to watchtower developments, but talking to a jw yesterday it occurred to me the society (yes, still use that term - old school) have been sending out mixed messages in recent years.

  from what i gather, a few years ago the gb announced that during the great tribulation jws would be required to preach a “hailstone message of judgement” which involved telling people it was too late for them to repent and they were definitely going to be destroyed.

  there were hints that this could be very soon, “any day now” preaching could stop and the hailstone message come in, kind of thing.
