mothers day can bring up many issues for some of us.
for some their mothers have passed away and the opportunity to say i love you in person is forever lost.
for others our mothers are lost to the borg.
Happy Mother's Day, Lady Lee. Can't say I lost mine to the borg but due to no contact on any normal basis except when she needs something. It was tough doing errands today and not buying one of those beautiful mother's day cards and a lovely gift and pretend i'm in fantasyland. Ahh, reality! I know if it makes me happy I should go ahead and contact her, but won't. Have spent the last couple of yrs. crying a little but trying to grow up and accept my losses.
i just remembered something from long ago..... i moved to california in 1974 after i had been in "the truth" for 11 years, having full-time pioneered and also having served time in federal prison over the so-called christian neutrality issue.. i felt completely confident that my bible education was the best on planet earth.
i had honed my skills by door to door preaching, discussion, arguments and attendance at the theocratic ministry school.. i began working as an artist in a huge company that manufactured all kinds of art, sculpture and wall hanging.
the head of the artists was a wonderful young man, skilled artist and devout christian who took me under his wing.
It's amazing the secrecy in this cult. when i attended i heard the PO saying the society has no money ---- YEAH, RIGHT! they have the adherents thinking they are poor and directed by God and look at all the marvels they do for those hungering and thirsting. NOT! one of the members told me yrs. ago that she was pulled aside and told by one of the clergy members that she couldn't be ordering tapes, etc., from the magazine counter without paying for them and that she should be contributing $40.00 for a video because it cost the society lots of money to make. what a LIAR! they were raking money in at that time.
why don't they have to disclose the financials --- of course they have freedom in this arena along with everything else.
has any group ever tried to control/tax/fine cults in this country. this money could be used to educate communities about them but then again in this great country they have their freedom to run rough shod over innocent people. maybe the lawyers on this board could start something although i'm sure you know it would be a waste of time. imagine the tax revenues off of cults that could be used toward science or feeding/helping the disadvantaged.
am currently reading this book.
would like to share some excerpts from same.take note mr. gladden is objective in his wrting.see wikipedia for gladden bio.

I will definitely check/read his posts --- seems i noticed them a few days ago. was thinking of enrolling for a semester in course at college but seems a waste of time w/all that's available on this website. trying to determine the best avenue w/least amt. of time involved.
thanks, again.

Terry: so interesting/insightful -- i've not read about other religions being so educational. you don't have to answer this, but in your opinion, what church/religion would one attend for knowledge - real study of the Bible and not just social structure. i visited a small, neighborhood, baptist and it was great (corporate setting -- in a bldg.) but they stand and sing like forever. great kids w/the guitars, piano, etc., (i loved the music) but it was a tad long. i probably should have checked out a bible-study group but decided to visit other churches and haven't. guess the brainwashing of the w/tower was stronger than i imagined re/their education being tops and no one had the literature/study aids they made available - duh!

gotta love pat.. "ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions.
ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity.
it is the mere abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of jesus.
whereami --- i thank you for addressing/making the statement about the trinity and starting the post. it's helpful and enlightening/educational.
so my last meeting was in december 2010. i was attending the english and spanish halls for a year and just english for 6 yrs..... lots of meetings.
i had only two friends at the hall and no boyfriend/husband.
i live in a town where i know no one, no family and when i became a witness i left the one job (air force) where i had people who cared about me..... now im alllllll alone!
GREAT INFO here from all.
AGuest --- appreciate your comforting scriptures/interpretations.

in today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.
metatron ----- they don't care why people (bodies) are filling up the seats or their agenda for being there as long as they are salesmen. it's the only way they can make money plus the shunning of children guarantees estate money. i'd love to know the stats of how many people are walking away especially w/the hard-economic times in this country. who has money for magazines and auto expenses but know people have to contribute something to be part of the system.
the shunning paragraphs are enough to give one a stroke --- those crooklyn clowns trying to hold on to their country club lifestyles. if only it would work against them. HOPE 101!
ahh low and behold!.
it turns out those bethelites were being bold!.
brazen is what many with login privileges can be called.... ....... knowing that such an important talk outline shouldn't be stalled!.
i could skip the w/tower but don't want to hurt feelings (family). if i go, i will post about --- i left around ''97 (only attended couple yrs. and not good attendance track record but pretty brainwashed) and not an expert rating the orators/speakers.
