So why did the organisation cause you anxiety or depression?

in regards to my other post regarding attending counselling as a jw, i was wondering what it was about being a jw that caused you to be anxious, stressed or depressed?.

for me, i knew that the person i wanted to be was constantly being supressed by the wt.

there was a battle going on in my head between who i wanted to be and who they wanted me to be.

let me be clear --- i love giving and will always help my friends/family but 99% of the ones i was asked to give to had already taken and/or advantage of me (my stupidty!) or did something evil. THEY DON'T want to work but take from others and then turn evil again. they hate anyone that has anything. it doesn't matter how hard one has worked in school, in the world, notha!

the watchtower has failed miserably teaching love, work ethics, kindness, MANNERS!!! OMG. HOW MANY invitations are stuck in your face (people that have NEVER, EVER, BEEN KIND until they want something!!) and never a thank you card. THEY ARE FARM ANIMALS!

OMG -- i could write a book and i was only there part-time for about 6 yrs. --- gads alittle longer than i thought! from loaning out a car (jaguar) to being hounded for money (a couple of elders were always pimpin' for one of the young pioneers and her loser husband --- OMG), EVERY MONTH IT WAS SOMETHING AND I WASN'T even baptized YET!!!! I had decided to never become baptized because i did not fit in, BELIEVE ME! one buffoon was always hurting for money and pawning off that stupid Lladro (which i hate --- it's beautiful but not my taste). honestly, if i wrote everything i'd have to go commit myself in the mental hospital. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. this WAS ONLY the simple stuff.

i had loser elders jerking me in the back hounding me for money before i was baptized and IF THEY EVER COME AFTER ME i can't wait --- I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF (real dirt) on these people. MY LEGAL IS FREE JUST LIKE THEIR STUFF and i have judges, too. besides that my toe tipped out of the water so i didn't take and i love halloween so maybe i'm possessed. possessed against that demonic CULT. like my husband says --- they aint gonna mess with him!

Faith and the Bible

for those of us who must walk by sight (for now), there is nothing wrong with using the bible to help learn about christ and god... as long as ... you look to christ first and foremost and over anything else.

otherwise, i do not see the point in saying you follow christ or you are a christian.

he is the truth.

Did any of you need counselling or psychotherapy as a JW?

i have just started my new course to be a qualified counsellor.

naturaly i am studying this because of my own background and now i want to help others who have had similar strains on their lives.. i know the pressure that the jw organisation puts on its members, so i was wondering, if you dont mind saying so of course, did any of you attend counselling sessions due to the pressures and problems that the jw life brought along?.

i can imagine that the majority of my old congregation (myself, my dad and my brother included) would need some form of counselling or medication in order to remain sane.

how about a class action lawsuit to cover all the ex-witnesses mental health fees --- even go for fees to cover the ones locked inside. there has to be some hungry lawyers out there ready to have some fun.

palmtree67 --- YEA -- Great to hear you're going to be a UNLV football fan. I was a big FAN when they started football at UNLV about 1968. First two years they were quite a winning team but not in a great league. We will have to meet up someday. PLEASE BRING 'em LUCK, palmtree67. Hope you'll support the UNLV basketball team.

Cagefighter --- i'm following the rules and I'm giving up on the Tennessee Titans as my fav team, especially ever winning a Super Bowl --- OMG!!!! College -- UNLV, OF COURSE AND 2nd pick is the Buffalos/Univ. of Colorado. Going with San Diego Chargers (maybe my 2nd home soon). I know, my teams are losers. I also love the Buffalo Bills.

I definitely NEEDED IT but didn't seek help and walked away. One of the happiest days in my life! Wish i would have gone to therapy. Things didn't make sense inside plus I was extremely miserable the entire time and it affected my health (like this is anything new for members!).

I'm sure they keep the mental health professionals busy but didn't realize so many witnesses had insurance.

Greybeard -- appreciate your post and i've always loved hearing the serenity prayer and think it's the greatest prayer ever. thank you for posting/sharing because i forget about it. what helps me is the one about believing/accepting i'm powerless over others (another 12 step line/co-dependent groups use). too bad the watchtower isn't powerless over others! worrying about our families causes much anxiety.

Thanks for sharing the scriptures and the "Let go and let God" slogan --- another jewel. Hope is good.

Would you hire a JW?

tasked with hiring a new employee, iff you were looking through potential employee candidates and you were asked to pick one to hire, would knowing one is a jw put that candidate in a negative light?.

NO --- BEEN THERE/DONE THAT. NEVER AGAIN!!! they don't know right from wrong re/work ethics and honesty. all they know is how to be on stage at the hall in front of the clergy class and the power clique. they can rave on about them being good workers as much as they want to --- it's not true. some of the biggest crooks/manipulators i've ever encountered --- elders, included. there are, of course, exceptions.

W/TOWER should really preach about honesty, integrity and responsibility --- but it's not their priority in that religion to have honest people/just magazine reps.
