Sounds like people are waking up after all. Sad they're still wasting water on any baptisms.

a newly interested study gave his first bible reading on the school the other night.
i used to be filled with emotion and hope for ones like him: found "in the field," given real hope, the discipline of "the truth" at work in their hearts.
this guy is a good guy and i have no plans for raining on his parade, but i sat there while he did an excellent job with the reading.
Great idea, tec.

or did it not matter that you were ever a witness---you're a bit screwy, anyway?.
Ditto, Talesin --- my bio family weren't witnesses but screwed up.
in the congregations i attended more than 60% of the people i knew were on some type of antidepressant medication.
this rate seems much higher than "worldly" people i know/knew.
or perhaps witnesses are just more open about this topic?.
O dozy - same info I heard heard about Ohio congregations faking their mental states (shouldn't be hard for witnesses) and saying they were crazy (exact words from elder) to live off the dole to pioneer. So much for following the Bible's admonition to work hard to eat. Peer pressure to pioneer is sick --- this religion should be shut down and the gov't would be ahead of the game.
It's such a depressing religion/life. Many in one of the congregations in Calif. were on prozac (according to an elder) yrs. ago --- I can only imagine the stats today.
They all seem to be alcoholics if they're not on psychotropics.

the team's findings suggest that privilege promotes dishonesty.
darthfinder --- this might be right about Wall St. and the rest of it, too. I'll check the link out. Guess that's why they have so-called country club prisons but thought most wealthy people went there because of tax evasion.

I think this is a huge problem w/all of society -- the lying/conniving and have always had bad situations w/the lower end of the scale who are angry that someone has more. Some think upper class are so busy (are negligent w/their money) they won't notice (shopping orders, construction, maids, on and on). There's always someone w/their hand out wanting something from those that have more.
People are liars ---
california most hated state, according to recent poll .. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/23/california-most-hated-state_n_1297843.html?ref=mostpopular.
bangalore.
.
CALIFORNIA has it all --- beautiful mountains, ocean, world's leading soil to grow food (or was, San Joaquin valley) --- you name it. What's not to love other than the taxes. I'd live there permanently if possible.
i sometimes have to wonder....... if a subtle transition might take place with regard to the general context of being a jehovah's witness.. a transition away from being objects of hatred towards being legitimate objects of pity.. if this seems far-fetched, consider that some extended witness families have now drifted into having the next generation gone completely or faking it at best.
there are also cases of long term witnesses being accosted by long term co-workers as to 'what happened, i thought armageddon was supposed to be here' (and it's been twenty years).. when you hear a circuit assembly condemn college.... or facebook.... or the internet......or vampire novels, do you ask yourself, "how long can they repeat this stuff?
" i don't think the answer is 'indefinitely'.
Ditto the great post --- sad, indeed.
after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.
i'll update it more when i get the time and the strength.
Where or what do I click on to read this talk?
Thanks,
