Apostates commit the unforgivable sin and will NOT be resurrected.

i posted this on another thread....but as usual, when i posted it, the thread died and so i thought i'd put it under a different subject as it's worth re-reading.. the society has always said nobody is the judge who commits the dreaded...."unforgivable sin", but they sure the hell do not having any trouble making a statement concerning apostates as commiting the unforgivable sin.. 1982 watchtower 4/1 p.26-28 .

" jesus told the unrepentant scribes and pharisees that they and their gentile proselytes were subjects for gehenna or, literally, sons of gehenna.

(matthew 23:15, 33-35; see also john 9:39-41; 15:22-24.

They should have to hand out a warning to all people before they are baptised pointing out if you ever have doubts, start thinking for your-self, or just get fed up with being bored to death 5 times a week and leave ["draw away"] you are effectively "apostate". As such you commit an unforgivable sin, have no hope of a resurection, and that to the witnesses you are as good as dead already.

I'm curious though, if this is so unforgivable why do they try to get us back?

What is so bloody hypocritical is that they accuss other faiths of keeping people through fear, and yet theat is exactly what the JW's are all about. A bunch of often sad people scared to live in case they die, talk about insane.

Question About The Religion

jehovah's witnesses do not believe or teach some of the very basic tenets of christian doctrine.

1. the trinity.

2. the omnipresence of god.

I'm at an agnostic a stage in my life so I'm pretty cynical. I thnk your fundemental error may be thinking the bible is somehow inspired by God [but I don't knock you for having faith, which is defined in the dictionary as "belief without evidence"]. If the bible is inspried by God, he mellowed a lot about 2000 years ago. If Jesus was God on earth why was he saying "turn the other cheek" where as before it was "kill em, kill em all, eye for an eye etc" Pehaps it was traumatic being born as a person and he developed a little understanding of the human condition??? Does this traumatised state explain why would he call god father [when he was his own father], and pray to god [when he was actually praying to himself] - I can see why you need faith to beleive this. Even my 8 year son who is attending a catholic school has worked out this cannot be right. Hmmmmmmm - trinity - sorry I'm not buying any.

Wasn't that just the catholic churches scam to keep their member's in fear and poverty, and true beleivers? While the JW's may have "poured water on hell" they have the "die at armagedon with no resurection, or live forever on a paradise earth" which is ment to keep the poor publisher JW's in fear, and poverty, and true beleivers!

At least the last Pope said sorry and admitted their had been some mistakes, I don't see the witnesses Govening Body saying sorry, no the light just gets brighter [or blinks as pointed out on this site]. BUT I can not agree with the Pope forbidding the preists to marry [their is NO biblical basis for this], nor the stance on contraception. Does the zero population growth in Italy [90%+ Catholic] mean that the rythym method of contraception works when you are near the Pope, but in the Philippines [90%+ Catholic] it doesn't work as they are too far away? Or do the Italian Catholics use the pill and condoms?

I have read in the Philippines in full page adverts sponsored by the Catholic church [Cardinal Sin! - I'm not joking] undermining the government efforts to get the people to use contraception [for birth control], and condoms [for disease control]. Does a good confession and a couple of hail mary's will help some poor woman infected with Aids from unprotected sex - oh that's right it saves her imortal soul from hell. I tell my Filippino catholic friends that they should send a fax to the pope along the lines of "God said to go forth and multilply and fill the earth... Great news, Philippines is fill, please send further instructions".

I was pleased the other day...

My son [age 8] got into an arguement with his teacher at the local catholic school he attends. As the kids get older they start to introduce the concept of the trinity - well he would have none of it - with no JW influence he could work out for himself the trinity was crap - shut my wife up too who thought that this was no longer taught by the Catholic's.

I am so pleased he won't accept stuff that doesn't make sense.

The god of the old testiment was this "eye for an eye, earth will swallow you up, kill em, kill em all" psyco, then in the new testiment god is a "turn the other cheek" new age dude [speaking through his son]. Given god is supposed to be so unchangeble what happended?

This is pretty good damn evidence that the bible lacks the devine inspiration it claims, thus invalidating any "stone em, kill em" instructions, and just about every thing else any formal bible based religion wants to try and push down your throat [not that I'm advocating following the book of Morman or the Koran].

it is interesting to read the comments of so many who are no longer "in the truth".

i have not associated for 18 years but as my parents are still very much "in the truth".

i never disassociated myself as i feel to do so is to acknowledge some form of official status over me.

You got it in one on the faking it for the kids - no point is there!

It's all very silly, if you don't want to be a JW it's because Jehovah has "read your heart" and found you lacking somehow - so if so then why try to keep us in? So if at armagedon we die anyway then you might as enjoy the only life they think we will get and make everyday count.

Imagine for a minute a post armagedon world filled with nothing but Jehovahs witnesses singing Kindom melodys and with in deamnd world rebuilding skills like door knocking, quoting the bible, building kingdom halls. I guess this is where the resurection will come in handy - skilled labor.

I don't know if there is some afterlife - but if there is it's a bonus. If there is a god who is interested in man then I think he needs to be a little more hands on, and a little more into communication. Peronally f there is a devine being I hope they are not as petty as most religions try and paint them.

JWs and socio economic status

do you think that someone's socio economic status determines how they get treated (behaved to) by the jws?

can someone high up the ladder get away with more things especially if he made big donations to the society and do they look down upon those lower down?

My experience was that they liked the donations from wealthey brothers and sisters, and had no problem using their finances to fund kindom halls, provide security for loans. However the weathy were often treated like somehow they were not really as good as the poorer but intial set of PO and elders. There is definately a power structure.

My parents have provided the funds to build at least 3 Kingdom halls, put food on the tables of borthers and sisters worse off than them [hell they still do it], paid for operations, cars, travel etc. It seemed to be held agains them and I know they had absolutely terrible treatment at the hands of the elders [false accusation, lies, back stabbing etc - and they wonder why we didn't stay?].

Needless to say my now retired parents are no longer wealthy. They are thankfully now in a congregation where where they are now actaully being treated like the great people they are. Kids are allowed to play sport [gasp shock horror], where several are very sucessful business men, where a sister plays sport for a national team, on a Sunday afternoon the brothers play sport, where you are greeted on your bithday - and mum and dad report it is the most loving, spirtual, congregation they have ever encountered. I was hoping this was the new 21st centruary face of the witnesses.

Who's Counting "hours"?.... look again!

one time while out in service we saw some mormon's working the same territory.. the inevitable put-down comment was made that "they" only put in two years of "missionary" work in, then their church helps them financially to get "set" in the business world (bastards!).

unlike "us" (the dubs) who slave for the lord our whole life.

and get nothing (in this life).. so i started to do the math... if you just go strictly by "witness" standards of weights and measurements (counting "time"), here's what i came up with:.

This was an issue I had when I was a publisher - my brother and best mate used to do a lot of remote rural teritory, we came to know a lot of the farmers and enjoyed some robust discussion - I loved shaking things up a bit and to get people thinking. Of course one of the elders went with me one day and "suggested" I would be better off trying to place the magazines and let "Jehovah open their hearts" [I need to puke].

I remember other brothers and sisters demeaning my efforts because I counted my hours from when I left the hall till I got back - up to 8 hours, 300km, tired driving for up to an hour to get back from the last door. Mean while they had a nice stroll for a couple of hours then were back home in time for lunch. Ahhh the good old days. Makes me so glad that I do not waste my time like this anymore.

However I'm almost never rude to those that call. I politely but firmly say that my father is an elder, that I was raised a jehovahs witness, and I would like to be put on their "do not call" list. This doesn't always work - it seems to wear off. The last time I had some ignorant arsehole who inquired what congregation it was, thenclaimed he had spent 6 months in my old congregation and never heard of my father [there were only 30 publishers!] . I told him "don't come to f***ing door, when I've asked to be a do not call, and lie through your f***ing teeth - I was a publisher from age 10 to 22 in that congregation you a***hole, and my dad still there, f*** off." - this is more powerful than being polite as they have not returned in 12 months. What would a so called Jehovahs witness be doing telling lies at the door? What does he gain?

If they are going to phase it out I wonder if they could do it by soon, one of my parents is having serious cancer surgery without blood!. I just don't see that they could ever back down on this - the light can't shine that bright can it?

I just don't get how it's ok to die for your brothers, but to give or receive a gift of blood ["life"] is going to get your ticket stamped forever?

I think I'll be doing a lot of reading of the posts. I've already read one where the peron talked about being a "neutral witness". I was the same - the meetings didn't work for me any more I was bored, however when a young elder and his wife set up a Saturday evening group for the youth in the congregation they were made to stop. It didn't conform, if we were not getting "enough" from the meetings then there was something wrong - somehow it was not scriptual because the Govening body didn't say to do it!

For those still witnesses it would for them if there was some fresh blood injected into the givening body - but with that only being made up of the annointed who are mostly old people there's no chance is there?

Interestingly how come it's so wrong for the Pope to be gods representative on earth but Ok for them??? At least the catholic church has admitted it has done things wrong and asked forgiveness. So whens the Govening body going to do the same. I must admit to being shocked with the 1934 Greman Year book declaration that appears to be outright anti british, USA, and endorses the Nazi Anti Jew sentiment. However it is in some strange way re-assuring, it confirms that the holy spirit was sadly ineffective in 1934 too, and not being an active JW isn't the death sentance for my family my parents think it is.
