Good question, why don't we celebrate our Baptismal Anniversary?
I have never heard of this one. Is this new?
I know many wittness's who do celebrate it and we have never been told not too by any one. At least not here in New Zealand.
.
they celebrate their wedding anniversaries, so since baptism is even more important than marriage,"says the watchtower", why don't they celebrate it?
not that i would celebrate it though....

who else has been told that the month of october is a special month because in the past jehovah has fulfilled many prophecies in that month.. we have been told this twice in the last 2 book studies.. examples are: hand writing on the wall in daniels book happened on 5/6th october 539 bce, .
jesus was born in october 2 bce,.
kingdom rule started in october 1914, but the most interesting one is that ww1 started in october of that year.has anyone else been told this?.

Both the Watchtower and history teach that WW1 started in July/August 1914.
Maybe it was our book study conductors personal ideas.
can inactive ex-jw's be disfellowshipped?
i've always been interested but can't ask my mother (still a jw) for fear of upsetting her.
if i was d/f'd, would it really mean that even my immediate family would 'shun' me?
From the Bible "NO", unless the inactive one is.... (1 Corinthians 5:11 & 13)
11 But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man

From the Watchtower "YES", and the (Wt 1952 pg 137)
IS IT proper to disfellowship? Yes, as we have just seen in the above article, God put out of his congregation those that were opposed to him and that were corrupt. He disfellowshiped them. He got rid of them, and he advises us to do so with such persons. At Titus 3:10, 11 (NW) we read: "As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition, knowing that such a man has been turned out of the way and is sinning, he being self-condemned." So there is authority in the Greek Scriptures for anyone that starts sects or divisions to be rejected after he has been talked to a first and a second time and still he does not change his course of action.

We have other authority, too, in Romans 16:17, 18 (NW): "Now I exhort you, brothers, to keep your eye on those who create divisions and causes for stumbling contrary to the teaching which you have learned, and avoid them. For men of that kind are slaves, not of our Lord Christ, but of their own bellies, and by smooth talk and complimentary speech they seduce the hearts of guileless ones." Here we have a plain statement from God’s Word that we should get rid of these persons that cause offense and divisions within His congregation. We have the authority, we have the right, and it is proper to get rid of them. They have no place in the congregation of God. Christ Jesus even disfellowships on what we probably might think less grounds than all of the things described above. Just because a person is lukewarm, and he is neither hot nor cold, Christ Jesus spews him out. He also declares, at Revelation 3:16 (NW): "So, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth." Well, that is a disfellowshiping. Christ Jesus is not going to have any lukewarm persons permanently in his organization. You are either for him or against him. You will either come into the congregation of the Lord God and be his minister or eventually go out into the Devil’s organization. You cannot pussyfoot. You cannot be lukewarm. You cannot be passive. You have to be positively for the Lord God.this quote makes you wonder if anyone at headquaters is reading their own magazines!

TimeA recent study concludes that "people who complain they don’t have enough time are under an illusion," reports The Australian. The paper cites a study conducted by the University of New South Wales and the Australian National University and states: "Many of us are spending more time at work and doing household tasks than is strictly necessary." Researchers calculated the amount of time a working couple without children needed to work in order to provide the bare necessities of life. They then compared the calculated time to the amount of time they actually spend on those activities. The study found that childless working couples "spent a combined 79 hours a week at work, 37 hours on household tasks and 138 hours on personal care, but they only needed to work 20 hours a week [10 hours each], do household tasks for 18 hours and spend 116 hours on personal care [including eating and sleeping]," says the paper. If a couple were willing to scale back, they could gain as many as 100 additional hours of free time a week. The study, according to The Australian, suggests that working couples without children "claim to be most pressured for time, but are, in fact, the least time-strapped of any group, with parents far more pressed for time."
for example: we had a 'faithfull' brother getting older and confused.
when something did not really went as he liked it (didn't get the answer etc) he shouted very loudly 'god doom me in the hell!
one time i had to do the closing prayer on the midweek meeting.
I was on the mixing desk one meeting, about 1min into the song I slipped my chair back so I could stand up and sing, somehow the power cable was around 1 of the chair legs and out of the wall it came, music stopped, all eyes looking back at me but everybody carried on singing. One of the bro's told me to quickly press play, yeh right. continued singing with no music.
i like "theocratic strategy", "new light", "the slave", and "lovers of truth"......anything that you find amusing?
JUST. Use the word just and you will be looked upon has if it is a swear word. etc
"We will just close the meeting in prayer"

over at carm, corvus the jw defender from australia is loudly proclaiming that the two-witness rule is never applied when an allegation of child abuse is made.
i pointed out in some detail that the nov. 1, 1995 watchtower article "comfort for those with a 'stricken spirit'", in the section "what can elders do?
" most definitely does teach that:
Was the 2 witness rule part of the laws of Moses? If so, why have we dropped the sabbath ruling and not the 2 witness rule. (Rom 10:4)
can someone tell me what the image on page 15 top left in "keep on the watch" booklet is?
