  Well written, scathing article that summarises first 3 days of RC hearing.

  there's been quite a number newspaper articles quoted over the past week, but i would recommend this as a good summary of the first three days of the royal commission hearing in australia - complete with some scathing commentary.. apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but have not seen this posted previously.. https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/law-crime/2015/08/01/royal-commission-examines-jehovah-witnesses-cover/14383512002194.

  just one thing that is not quite right is that the article refers to joe bello as a narrogin elder.

  the assualts took place while the victim was part of the narrogin congregation.

  Nice summary. I read this with my jehovahs witness mind in operation. There are a number of points in that read that a jw will point to as reason's why this article is a lie.

  1: "Jehovah’s Witness Church is a tightly controlled, rule-bound organisation that seeks to keep its members in relative isolation from the rest of society…". - Jw answer "no it doesn't" would be the answer I would hear.

  2: "Elders encourage their flock to shun “worldly people” because the secular are agents of the Beast". - jw answer "no they dont".

  Based on these 2 so called in correct statements, the average jw that I know is going dismiss this article as being apostate lies.

  you can find the full transcripts of each day there as pdf.. but also the evidence list is very interresting.

  governing body was a fiction, not only would they refuse to believe you--they'd consider you their immediate enemy!.

  July 19th Watchtower Summary. Insanity

  just got back from the wt study and it overall was just so blindingly biased and leading.. i had to read it from the platform too, i hope they couldn't see the confounded look on my face as i read this craziness out!.

  first we consider the faith of abel, enoch, noah, abraham, isaac and jacob, and moses.. all of these people are held up as sterling examples of blind faith, with the article pointedly saying that their imaginations sustained their faith in gods promises for them.

  no mention anywhere at all that all of these characters saw and talked to angels, spoke to god himself, saw and performed miracles, or any of the other feats experienced by these characters.

  Who else spotted what the bible says about the location of this better place (the city having real foundations) that these faithful Men and Women of old were reaching out for?

  Hew 11: 16 -
  "But now they are reaching out for a better place, that is, one belonging to heaven. Therefore, God is not ashamed of them, to be called on as their God."

  Check out how other translations word this verse and the 3 preceding verses. NO - wait, Stop, Please do not read other Bible translations, you will get the wrong meaning. We must believe the WT, These faithful Men and Women recorded in Heb 11 do not go the heaven, but will be part of the earthly resurrection.

  well another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.

  i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.

  i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

  if you were somehow magically put in-charge of the governing body tomorrow, by jesus, with the rules being, you could not teach anything that would be considered outright apostasy and you could not teach anything that would be considered to cause doubt about god's existence... (so as not to arouse suspicion).

  what "new light" or "clarified understandings" would you introduce first?.

  Wedding with a sad side

  so the family attended a wedding this weekend that we had coming up for a while.

  the man getting married (a close relative of my wife) is the son of an (now) elder.

  he was baptized young.

  A good friend of mine (JW at the time) was getting married to a guy that was not baptized, I was invited along with a large number of her JW friends to the wedding. All was going great until about a week before the wedding, and after a COs talk about not encouraging those that are not living up to Gods laws. Marrying an unbaptized person is wrong and attending that wedding would be viewed as encouraging her and that marriage. In the end I don't think any of her JW friends went to her wedding because of this talk and the gossip that it created about her wedding. I was still going to go to it until pressure from other JW's (and wife) talked me out of it. This is what finally made me not attend and it wasn't the CO's talk, It was because I was told that there will be Elders spying on the wedding to see who out of the witness's would attend. These ones would then be spoken to about it. I don't believe the Elders would spy or did spy on this wedding, but it scared me out of going. If only she got married a week before that CO's talk. then everyone would have been happy to be at that wedding.
