  How To Enjoy Assemblies By Being Rebellious

  They've scrapped the whole food thing. Now you have to bring your own bagged lunch. This arrangement was supposed to be rejoiceful change, because now everyone could listen to the "real food" instead of having people miss the sessions to get the food prepared.

  Would you go?

  would you go to a funeral at a kingdom hall?

  would it have to be someone that is very close family or just an acquaintance?.

  i dont know that jw funerals really off ther much closer and point blank i can not think of a single person i would go to the hall for.

  This situation happened to me in September last year.

  My brother lives in the Grand Cayman. My parents were going to visit him there.

  My dad's best friend for many years, drove them to the airport. He had been my father's friend since the 1960's, before my father had become a JW. His friend,didn't become a JW until the late 1990s, having taken 30 years for my dad to convince him it was "the truth." This fellow even lived with us during the early 1970s when I was just a child, and I always thought of him as an "uncle." He had no other family here in Canada.

  Anyhow...he had a heart attack on the way back from dropping them off at the airport, and crashed into a semitrailer truck, and died.

  AND...the hurricane hit the very day after my parent's arrived in the Caymans. My parents weren't able to leave the island for 2 weeks.

  WELL...do you think those elders could WAIT for my parents to come home from their trip for them to hold his FUNERAL or MEMORIAL whatever to he** their calling them these days, when they are the closest thing to family that he had! NNOOOO...!! They picked a Saturday just 2 days before they could return! My parents, who have donated so much of their time into this faith, were upset, too, not understanding why they couldn't wait a week (but, of course, "brushed" it off that there had to be a "reason" for it.) But, I could tell they were hurt.

  So, I packed up my kids, made the 3 1/2 hour drive from my home straight to the KH in Langley, BC, and marched in, in all our not-up-to-standard clothing, and represented MY FAMILY at the memorial.

  But to this day, I'm so upset by this whole thing...like they couldn't have waited another week...geeze!!!

  JWs not shunning you after you left the org?

  after you got disfellowshipped or disassociated yourself were there any jws relatives or not that refused to accept the shunning policy and at least secretly (or perhaps openly) kept up contact with you?

  I live 3 1/2 hours away from my parents. They will let me stay with them when I go down to their area. When they come up to my area, though, they usually stay in a hotel or with my sister (reinstated, but now inactive), although they will have dinner with me, and even had family photos done which included myself and my children.

  Some JW patients at the office don't seem to mind talking with me, others outright shun me, and will even try to make the appointments for when I'm not in the office (but the other girl thinks it's crazy and will book them when I'm in regardless). One JW family brought in everyone in our office a bottle of wine last week - including one for me - go figure!!!

  JWs required to report medical information to elders

  there was an article, i believe in the awake!, that talks about a hypothetical medical worker who in a hypothetical situation comes to find out that a jw has accepted a medical procedure that is not accepted by the wts.

  this hypothetical worker must decide where or not she will report the hypothetical violation to the elders.

  does anyone recall where i can find this article?

  Question style in Keep on Watch Brochure

  have you noticed how publications of late in question and answer mode have very personalized and viewpoint questions.

  they have gone very pointed.

  this seems a definite trend and i wonder if it is one particular writer with a certain style or it has approval from the whole gb to get more pointed in their questions.

  My 2 cents (whatever that's worth)...

  I think that having people answer questions in their own words, instead of the answers from the paragraphs, will enable the elders to identify those whose thinking isn't up to WTS standards (you know, actually THINKING for themselves) so that they can give them the much needed admonition into thinking the way they're SUPPOSED to be thinking (or not).

  To 'weed out,' and catch people thinking wrong things so they can 're-adjust their thinking?' What do you think?

  Have you ever noticed the look on other's faces (sometimes even gasps), or the look on the speaker's face when someone gives an answer that is not up to 'protocol?'

  Kids say the funniest things!

  my daughter lily is 3 years old.

  she is now asking me all the body parts(all of them).

  now i am not one to hold back so i told her what she has and what her little brother has when she asked.. so anyway..... now she sings songs about it.

  My youngest daughter lost her balance while walking along (or climbing over) a fence and landed straddling the fence with her legs and...well...injured her private area. We took her to the doctor (it was actually hurt quite badly). The doctor told us to put some Polysporin on the cuts.

  When we get to the drugstore she, in front of other customers announces, "mom, don't forget I need POLYSPERM for my Vagina." I just about died!

  Witnesses and alcoholism

  my jw husband has made me promise to let him die rather than approve a blood transfusion because of bible doctrine; however, the same bible speaks against alcoholism and drunkeness and yet he continues to drink and sometimes gets absolutely smashed.. last night we were at a non-jw staff party for my place of employment, and he lost any shred of dignity through his heavy drinking.

  we got home at 3 a.m. and he jumped out of bed at 8:20 and said, "i have to get to book study; i'm reading today.

  (it behooves me how he can do this time and again without even taking so much as an asparin!).

  Qcmbr, my alcohol consumption was WAY out of control while still "in". Interestingly, after a period of drinking at least a bottle of wine a day, I now find myself feeling more contented in who I am, feel more in control of myself, and find myself avoiding alcohol just for the sake of not wanting to feel drunk. A MAJOR flip-flop for me. I now average a bottle a week.

  Also out of my life now: Prozac, Paxil, other antidepressant medications, as well as Ativan, etc,...go figure!

  So How Was Armagheddon supposed to occur anyways ?????

  or were buildings going to collapse and all of the people in the buildings and on the ground below be destroyed ?.

  3. or were angels suddendly going to materalize with big broad swords (right out of king arthur's army) and smite us......those of us who didn't have the mark.

  Happy Birthday !!

  I can't believe I bought into it either.

  I had a look at those pictures from the WTS literature of destruction at Armaggedon posted at the quotes.watchtower.ca website this morning. I've seen most of them before, but never really looked at just how horrid those pictures are for a supposed god of love. Fear tactics?
