Hi Larc.
That would be possible, if I had not refused to meet with the CO and the elders a couple of times. This time we decided not to refuse their wish to visit us. So we will meet with them - the only things we do not know for sure is: What shall we tell them? The truth? Or should we tell something, that let's the show go on for a while once again...

Hi folks.
It has been almost a year since my last posting. My wife and I have tried to move on with our lives, since we decided to stop being "active" about 14 months ago. We have not attended any meeting since we stopped last year. From time to time (4-5 occasions) elders have visited us or called to "encourage" us to come back. We don't want to. (Sorry: I have not been of much help to the others on this board in the past months - but anyway: I'd like to ask for some advice...)
Earlier this week we received a letter from one of the elders in our congregation, who invited himself for coffee tomorrow afternoon. The CO is visiting the congregation and he/they want to talk to us. Now we wonder what to do: Some of the elders have already marked my wife and me as "apostates" - several families have been warned to have too close (any) contact to us a.s.o. Because of family-members still inside we have decided to (try to...) just keep quiet and see if we can fade away. That seems impossible - some of the elders are hunting us and would wish to be able to hunt us down. Until now we have managed to manouver around the sharp corners, but it gets more and more close.
I think we are prepared to get df'ed (both of us know, what that's like - we have been df'ed some years ago and worked hard for a "comeback". Please don't ask: "Why didn't you stay out back then...?" We had our reasons). I do not know what they will bring up, when they visit us tomorrow. But we are afraid, that we won't be able to play games: If they push the right buttons, we will kick them out of our home and ask them to never come back again. Should we just get things straightened out and tell them what we feel and believe (both of us feel sick when we even think about meetings, WT-study - or just being JW (which we have been for 30 years) we have had enough "religion" for two lifes...). Or should we just keep quiet once again and try to keep our "show" going.
Anybody who has experienced something similar? Any advice? Thank you

i'm sure several here have posted and tried to be a thorn in the flesh of some of the jw-loyal forums on the net.. what was most effective?
if someone announced "i am an apostate and i think you jws are all wrong and i will prove why" do you think they would last very long?
to be able to do any damage so to speak, a careful masquarade would need to be maintained of being a loyal jw while stying to stir things up.. now, think of how anyone opposed to us 'opposers' would behave here .... would they announce that they are jws and they they were going to "set us all straight" ... or would they pretend to be an apostate ... pretend to 'help with the cause' but try and do more harm than good?.
well said Simon!
So how should we behave towards this "wt-spy"-class? Well, Mathhew quotes Jesus, saying: "...be as cunning as snakes and as innocent as doves!"

i received this today from a confirmed source.
i am sure someone will have the actual scans soon.. .

Hi folks.
Sorry - but I doubt that this "published", "scanned" letter is real. Quite a lot of details (a .jpg-logo, real links a.s.o.) make med me wonder - it looks more than fabricated to me.
Just found this thread today - and just wanted to tell, what I think.

well, i was tempted but i decided not to go to the most bizarre religious ritual of modern times....how about you?.

i hated growing up as a witness.
i hated the boring ass meetings where you could hear a pin drop on the floor, i hated going door to door and i hated not being normal like the other kids.. but the one thing i liked was going to the assemlies at the oakland coliseum.
i would wander around and find other kids to goof around with.
I don't know if it can be considered food, but - in Denmark we had light-beer at the DA for many years (until 7 or 8 years ago).
Those were the days...

i'm not planning anything..... but when they all pop off, what are the rest going to do?they think the ns will come before they all die, so how the heck will they cope with it ,scriptually speaking/ surely cause a few to 'desert'?
there was a thread a few days ago about elders being up graded to fds status by some out of context crappily applied scripture;do you think they'll explain the absence of god's action with' the fds is still here!.
or will they work everyone up into a horribly humiliating fever pitch of protelisizing ,the like of which we have yet to see?
Hello termite and others on this thread.
My personal point of view: For the time being they will extend the "formula", that allows for those born after 1915-1920 (the heavenly call closed around 1935 acc. to the WT) to be of the anointed, as much as possible. (See current members on the GB - some of them born on the 40's...)
But within 5-10 years (and I agree completely with JT and whoever his sources may be!) they will have to prepare for and make a (noteable) change that somehow allows the "other sheep" to be the FDS of the last days. We have seen the introduction to this several yeasr ago. In a way they are planning tyhe next steps already - checking out how some chosen "low- and high-profile" JW would react to such a change. For the past two years I have talked to at least a dozen elders, 3 CO and 1 DO that on different occasions have expressed their belief that THIS is going to happen (and they didn't mention the - and a couple of them have expressed that they would go by such a change.
Makes one wonder, doesn't it?

check out the 1 april, 2002 wt, page 11.. christian baptism is not for everyone, jesus ordered his followers: 'go....and make disciples of people of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things i have commanded you.
' (matthew 28:19, 20)before being baptized, people must be 'taught to observe all things jesus commanded his disciples.
' hence, forced baptisms of those lacking faith based on accurate knowledge of god's word are valueless and contrary to the commission jesus gave his true followers.-hebrews 11:6.. so far as baptism is concerned, the matt 28 scripture as quoted by the article is a key text for dubs.
interesting subject...
Maybe it's relevant to know that in at least, 3 congregations that I have personal knowledge of, young peoples (14-17 years old) wishes to get baptized have been rejected by the elders in the last 7 months. The reason: They have to prove, that they have read the bible completely and they have to reach at least the amount of hours in field-service, that the congregation reaches in average. If they fail to qualify in these regards, they are not qualified for baptism... Sad to say, that this one is from real life. No joke!

after much hard work a certain person has finally got the story published through a letter to the editor in the san bernardino sun.
you will find the article in the november 28, 2001 edition of the newspaper in the "opinion" section.
note the voice of the people section.
Good news hawkaw!
An article on the UN/WTS subject appeared in a danish newspaper (Kristeligt Dagblad = ca. "christian daily") on nov. 13th, page 6. The headline was "Jehovas Vidner har både støttet og advaret mod FN" (Jehovahs Witnesses have both supported and warned against UN).
Unfortunately the article is not yet online on www.kristeligt-dagblad.dk.
Other danish newspapers are working on the subject as well, but due to general elections last week and the preparations for the elections through 3 weeks the newspapers have not had the space for an article on the subject. But the subject is still ALIVE!
