Not forsure, but I think there would be a lot of people trying to figure out if they should change their name to Jehovah's Nation, as the Witness thing would not really work anymore in the title.

What would the world be like if everybody was a Jehovah Witnesses
by TotallyADD inon the news the other day they showed a young man after graduating from high school went out and got drunk and had a bad car accident.
he was paralyze from the waist down.
instead of going into deep depression of what he did to himself he started his life over and went to college and was involved in inventing a exoskeleton for disable people.

Why would local congregations keep your name on file in TMS if you haven't attended in yrs?
by stormy222 ini am a new member to this forum, but i have visited for years.
i am curious to know why my name would remain as an active member, even though i haven't attended services for the past (i guess) 4 years or longer.
i am still in contact with a few members off and on, but i am really focusing on pursuing interest that i've put off for a long time (attending college).

I have been gone 15 yrs. Asked an elder once if they had records on my wife and I and they said, no. So I think it depends on your congregation and the person tracking the records.

When did this forum go apostate?
by B_Deserter ini was curious because i had heard simon was a jw when he started this forum.
i was looking through the old posts, but couldn't really pinpoint one that was a "turning point" so-to-speak.
simon must have left the j-dubs at some point.

Let's face it, if you step away from the organization and open yourself up to information outside the society, you will leave. So, basically, Simon did not have a chance in hell of staying in.

I take the bold approach.
"Hey, who stinks?" and turn and look at them, "Oh, it is you!"

Never understood the value in tracking all the time. Even when I Pioneered. As I can see no value in it in any way.

Is the Governing Body Guilty or not guilty of 1975 speculations going too far?
by Terry inthe most disengenuous aspect of "official" pronouncements from the society can be identified.. it is in the positioning of the speaker/writer as a passive onlooker commenting on exterior happenings.. this bystander mode is clever by half.. why?
it spoon feeds information without taking any active personal responsibility.. sort of an "oh gee, wow--look at all this going on" stance, while taking a stand-offish tone, is printed in the official magazines and books approved for publication by the governing body as mouthpiece of jehovah.. think about that.
it is insidious incitement without responsibility.. the person (likely fred franz) who crafted these bulletins had gone through several previous incidents of failure and disappointment and was well aware of the effect of any speculations upon jehovah's witnesses in the past.. this makes what was printed all the more calculated and irresponsible in the extreme.. let us parse the language printed by the watchtower society with careful attention to what is said and left unsaid.. w68 8/15 p. 494 why are you looking forward to 1975?.

Like it or not like it, the outside world says the Witnesses claimed 1975 to be the end. They can deny all they want, but there is enough evidence they did to have it be lumped in to other religions who have false claimed the end throughout history.

The spirit of religion
by free2beme inin my post witness life, and contact with people of several faiths, i have come to know a part of religion that i think is missing in the witnesses.
this part is the spirit of the religions.
spirit being, the energy, or the cosmic force connection that most religions highlight and strive for.

It is like there is no SPIRIT in their belief system. Just words.
