I think it is human to judge everything by what happens in our life time and not human history. As it means more and we can relate easier.

Major Disaster Fatique
by free2beme ini was reading the other day, that people have become less supportive of natural disaster relief, because they are happening to often.
think about it, since december of last year i think we must be nearing at least a half a million people dying in natural disasters.
we had the tsunami, the hurricanes, the mudslides in central america and now this earthquake in asia.

Are humans more animal like then we admit?
by free2beme inas an experiment, i dare anyone to go out on to the street and make eye contact with someone.
not just for a few seconds, i mean, look at their eyes and don't stop as they walk closer and pass by.
i would bet, that a large percentage of the men would ask you what your problem is, and ask you if you have a problem with them.

Well it would be a refreshing change from the boob stare I normally get.
In talking with several woman, they all said that they would rather their boobs be looked at by strangers and not direct eye contact. The eye contact was more personal to them. Men stare at woman's boobs, because they have hang-ups with their mothers breast feeding them. They do this because they have been programed since youth to long for boobs. Actually, men are not the only ones who notice boobs. Woman do too, but they don't talk about it as much in the open and feel that doing so is lesbian behavior, when it is not. That final bit, was from my human sexuality class.

What Are Things That TRULY Irritate You???
by minimus ini can't stand unappreciative people.
when you do something thoughtful for a person and they either seldom acknowledge it or half heartedly say, "thanks".

I would bet, that a large percentage of the men would ask you what your problem is, and ask you if you have a problem with them. Why do I say this, well, I took a class on psychology and part of the class we were asked to conduct a social experiment and this was mine. I did this for three days, in malls, on the street and in the gym. Nearly got into dozens of fights, got pushed around and even got told, "I will kill you!" by someone who got really upset. Nothing complex here, just looked at people in the eyes and waited to see what would happen. Men, by a huge margin were more aggressive then woman. Most woman looked away and tried to act like it was not happening, maybe even walking faster to get away. Now, do the same thing with a dog. Look at a strange dog you never met, and does not have a clue what or who you are. You get a similar reaction. Barking, aggressive nature in your direction, and if you got close enough, maybe even attacked and bitten. Weird, isn't it? We don't like people to look us in the eyes, unless we are in direct contact with you and gave a silent permission to do so. I would like to add, that I did get a lot of, "do I know you" or "are you looking for me?" comments. When I said no, it upset a lot of people.
So, if someone stared at you in the eyes and continued as you walked by and approached, how would you react?

I was reading the other day, that people have become less supportive of natural disaster relief, because they are happening to often. Think about it, since December of last year I think we must be nearing at least a half a million people dying in natural disasters. We had the Tsunami, the hurricanes, the mudslides in Central America and now this earthquake in Asia. Not to mention the major hurricanes that nailed Florida last year in September. I have found myself almost getting cold to the idea, in that it becomes as regular to hear as someone saying their was a home robbed locally. I don't see the extreme support I did after 9/11, and with the case of "New Orleans" I have seen a more cold response of people disgusted by the looting and writing the people off. So I wonder, what's up? Is this to much to handle and are our hearts growing tired of it all? Seems that way.
Personally, I am just waiting for the news that a asteroid is heading our way and were all doomed. Why not, seems like every other disaster people said was unlikely, happened. Oh, and Yellowstone is going to blow too and the Asian Flu is about to kill 1/3 the worlds population.
I know it sounds weird, but I wonder how much more the population can take before public panic happens. Am I the only one thinking about taking the governments advice and getting some extra water and food and a disaster kit together, maybe even a few more weapons? Just wondering.

JW's are they really a cult?
by Evanescence inmany people would say they are a cult, what are your reasons for thinking they are a cult?.
a created a thread a while ago on an idea of what a cult is http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/96309/1.ashx.
do you think it is the jehovah's witnesses as a whole a cult?
-

Christianity was a cult until it got so big that is became accepted. Same with all forms of Christianity, born from a cult and will grow into respectability.

Do you think that Armaggeddon is "near" or many, many years away?
by booker-t ini am 40 years old and i have been hearing the same old song by jw's "armaggeddon is around the corner" since i was a toddler.
it has to come to their minds that how long are they going to keep saying that armaggeddon is "near" or "around the corner"?
or they eventually going to quit believing in this fantasy and look at reality?

Come one, come all and learn to write like a Jehovah's Witness
by free2beme inwanting to get a point across and needing some back up quotes or information to support you?
does it bother you that often those quotes are full of information that contradicts your thoughts or might not even support it in the least?
well today is your lucky day, for now you can write just like a jehovah's witness and look good doing it.

Wanting to get a point across and needing some back up quotes or information to support you? Does it bother you that often those quotes are full of information that contradicts your thoughts or might not even support it in the least? Well today is your lucky day, for now you can write just like a Jehovah's Witness and look good doing it. No longer will you be tied down to those hours of research, looking for things that say what you want and going threw all those quotes from people who just don't hit the nail on the head. Now the solution is here and it is so simple, you will be shocked at how easy it is to work with and use. What am I talking about? Well the wait is over, and here is the solution to all your problems!
"..."
Yes, three simple dots, that all it takes. Can you believe it, or do you even understand what I am saying? Well take for example this quote from John F Kennedy
"And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. "
Ever wish you could get this quote to actually support a more laid back and lazy life style. It's easy, with the help of the Jehovah's Witness favorite tool. Just watch!
"And so, my fellow Americans, ask ... what your country can do for you ..."
Wow, feel the release of stress in knowing you no longer have to "ask what you can do for your country?" I know I do and the usefulness of this tool is endless. You can take famous people and use the "..." to make it sound like they are insane, when their not, or even make them sound angry, when their happy. It is so easy, you no longer have to be tied down to all those restrictive facts and needless words that get in the way of the point you know they would have made, had they known how much you wanted your thoughts supported. If god were human, his middle name would have been "..." to allow for so much ease in understanding.
So what are you waiting for, time to punch those "..." and get in line with the best kept secret in the Witness faith. Your readers will not even notice it, and often they will thank you for making their life more simple with you already doing the editing for them. Because, even if they ask, "what other words fit in here", you can mention that most people do not read every word anyway and you just figured, "why waste the ink." They will thank you, trust me, even support your use of these "..." in quotes from people in books, by not researching the missing pieces and even thinking, "this must be the whole quote anyway." The possibilities are endless my friends, endless, and you can use them all you want.
Remember what Neil Armstrong said " That's one small step ... for mankind." So take those small steps today, and use the "..." when ever you need it! Just like our friends in Brooklyn.
