  how do so many people have similar experiences in "haunted" places if spirits didn't exist?

  I thought about doing a similar experiment in which dice would be blindly thrown into an open box and the board would be asked the outcome. I may try it later tonight and see what happens...if I can find another willing participant.

  You suggest that if genuine, a plethora of knowledge could be obtained from the board. Who's to say that, if there are spirits amongst us, they'll be helpful in any way? Humouring the possibility that they exist, perhaps their only intent is to entertain themselves. I'm not even sure if they'd be willing to participate in the dice experiment. I've been doing a lot of reading on spirit boards, and most "experts" say that you shouldn't ask trivial questions.

  One thing that I haven't heard explained is if spirits ARE channeled through talking boards, why do we need to touch the planchette in order for it to move? If they're powerful enough to control my actions, or whatever they're supposed to be controlling, why not simply move the thing from letter to letter automatically?

  Good points. I don't believe half the stuff I see on those paranormal programs (such as the orbs), but some of it has no explanation that I can think of.

  What exactly is a beer belly?

  this probably sounds like a stupid topic, but what's in a beer belly?

  i've always been on the thin side, but i've been drinking too much beer lately and notice something happening above my belt.

  it's not really noticeable and is easiliy sucked in, but i'm not happy.

  In both cases the owners try to disguise their prize possession by wearing trousers that sit BELOW the gut, and are held up with a belt (as the trousers are pushed so low, there is no bum to hold them up naturally). The gut hangs over the top.

  LOL! I remember back in the day men used to wear their pants high up over the gut to hide it. Remember Fred Mertz from I Love Lucy? Towards the end of the show his trousers were all the way up to his chest.

  Anyway, I stopped drinking beer for a while and everything is back to normal. I guess too much fluid was building up from excessive drinking and I pissed it all away. I definitely feel better, which is the most important thing. I still need to shrink about 1/2 inch more to fit back into my 32's. Binge drinking is not worth buying a new wardrobe.

  My thoughts on men who Body Build

  my two son's are body builders and i am wonering if they think they can take on the world .

  last year my son was in a bar fight and got sucker punched in the eye which required 5 stiches ,now my 21 year old comes home with a huge black eye, the biggest i have ever seen trying to break up a fight.. .

  now both these people that got a good shot at my kids where men much smaller in stature and size and seemed to land good punches.

  Part of winning a fight is having fear. Fear helps release adrenaline, which amplifies our motor skills as well as our sense of hearing and sight. If enough is released, it's almost as if everything around you goes in slow motion. I remember getting into a fight in the 7th grade with a kid twice my size. I was scared sh!tless. Before he could even land a punch, I dotted both his eyes and he stood there looking stunned. It was as if everything froze around me and I couldn't miss.

  It sounds to me like your boys don't have enough fear to release the needed amounts of adrenaline to win a fight. I haven't been in another fight since then, and I go bar hopping almost every weekend. I find that trouble usually doesn't find a person unless they're looking for it.

  i was the "good jw", that accepted everything they taught, without even thinking of searching to see if it was true.

  and how could i have searched to see if what they preach was true?

  i don't speak hebrew or greek.

  Oh yeah, and so did everyone else I knew. I even believed the walking Papa Smurf story.

  It's strange how fast one can be brainwashed by these people. I now reflect on my dub days and can't believe that I fell for any of it.

  Anyway, if all of this mumbo-jumbo is reality-based, I don't see how Jesus could be the Almighty. It would make no sense for him to pray to and call out to himself. I've heard people explain this by saying that the Father part of Jesus remained in Heaven while the Son part came to Earth as a man. Hmmm....that sounds like more than one person to me.

  They explain God as a triumvirate being who can split up yet still be the same being. IMO, that would make him three beings in one, not one in three...or something like that. Even if he could split, wouldn't his 'Son' part be a distinct being upon splitting if he called out to the Father part? What good would the temptation of Christ do Satan if it wouldn't be an act against a higher power? If Jesus was God he'd have the power to take it all anyway without worshiping Satan.

  hey all, i just had a flash back when for about a year my ex and i didnt have a car to get to the meetings.

  one thursday night i was going but my ex wasnt so i rang my friend a brother to come and pick me up.

  anyway after the meeting was finished, he asked me to sit in the back seat on the way home, apparenlty the elders had had a chat with him and said it wasnt appropriate to have a sister in his car without anyone else and that it would be better if i sat in the back.

  I remember them not allowing my mother and I to ride alone in a car with a man who was old enough to be her grandfather. He was a friend of the family, yet would couldn't ride with him unless another adult was present.

  after you got from behind the barrier that was keeping you from thinking logically and had removed the blinders that prevented you from processing information using common sense rather than the 2000+ year old superstitions of some nomadic goat-herders, did you start to find that religious-centric or god-related statements made you shake your head in incredulity?.

  case in point: just yesterday as i watched the 5:00 news, a story came on about a young man who had moved from here to california.

  while in california he died but the family was so poor they could not afford to have the body shipped back to new orleans.

  Exactly. It seems that bible thumpers don't even stop and consider the horrendous acts that their god has supposedly performed. These things are simple Bible stories to them, and since they've been conditioned to believe that God is so belevolent and perfect they don't even question whether these acts are morally right or wrong. I'm still stuck on the alleged killing of the first born of Egypt. The Witnesses preach this like it was a just punishment for Pharaoh...the slaughter of innocent children.

  What nice terrorist tactics their god employs. He makes Saddam look like a pussy cat.
