It's been hot and muggy in Maryland for around a week straight. I wish this humidity would go down so I can do some yard work...it's miserable outside.
I think I'll go to the beach today and cool off.

How many of you are childfree by choice?
by rebel8 inby that, i mean you do not want to have children.. i have been told since birth it would not be safe for me to have children, so i never even considered it.
i never went through a grieving period because the concept of having babies was not something i once had and lost.
i always envisioned myself as a happy career woman.. i recently married and am still sure i don't want children.

I'm not responsible enough to have children. I'm the type who likes to get up and go at the drop of a hat, and I don't need anything like that weighing me down.
It's not that I don't like kids...as long as they're someone else's.

Just Because You "Feel" Something Is True Doesn't Make It So
by minimus init's interesting how some people "feel" and "know" whatever their gut tells them.
some are making the outcry that michael jackson is clearly a child molester.
whether he was acquitted or not makes no difference to them.

Personally, I don't think that he did any of it. Jackson himself even confirmed that the kids often slept in his bed, but his idea of sharing a bed with someone is apparently different from the average, sex-crazed American whose mind states permanently in the gutter.
The childrens' parents definitely had an agenda. They knew that Jackson was repeatedly 'accused' of child molestation, yet they still allowed their children to spend the night with him? They knew exactly what they were doing. They knew that many parents in the past were paid off and they wanted a piece of the pie. Funny how former parents basically sold their kids souls for Jackson's cash rather than pushing for prosecution (if they believed that he did anything to their kids in the first place).
If anyone should be on trial here, it should be the parents. People are judging Jackson by their standards of what's normal and acceptable. Obviously, Jackson has his own standards (to put things mildly). Just because someone has a different idea of the societal norm doesn't mean that he or she's a child molester.

Does the idea of a bodyless soul make sense? Could the 'soul' stay sane?
by IronGland inas i lay in my pod yesterday i began to think of the following.
in many religions-christianity, hinduism, and buddhism, as well as greek philosophy-attempts are made to mortify the body, to respond as little as often to it's carnal needs and what-not.
this is possible to be prepared for a new existence as just a disembodied soul, in some heavenly spirit realm or what-not.. .

Do you think that certain psychadellic drugs can allow a person to see into other dimensions? People throughout history have experienced nearly identical visions through the use of salvia, pilocybe mushrooms, and mescaline-producing plants.
As a teenager I went on a few of these "journeys" through psilocybe cubensis (anything to escape the JW 'reality'). Regardless of what psilocybin actually does to the brain to induce visions, it was an extremely spiritual event, and it was centered around a specific being who seemed to exist in another plane. The being wouldn't speak in words, but tell me things through means that I can't explain. I've since heard many other stories that are nearly identical.
Maybe it was just a wild trip and there are no 'spiritual' beings among us, but it definitely had an impact on the way I view the world.

Jehovah saved Michael Jackson!?
by Gill inso, there i was quietly dropping off to sleep while listening to the news at 10 on the bbc last night.
suddenly, michael jackson had been found not guilty of everything, and fair enough, i'm no judge or jury so it's not up to me to say yay or nay.. then my eldest son rushes into the bedroom on the phone to his jw full time pioneer girl friend.. her father had just told her that michael jackson had given credit to jehovah, that if he should be found not guilty of these charges his great god jehovah is the one that saved him and the girls elder father was saying what a wonderful witness this is, letting everyone in the world hear jehovah's name.. the best i could mumble at the time was 'go away you bunch of freaks!'.
however, the ludicrousness of this has finally dawned on me this morning!.

King Herod, and his "slaughter of the innocents"

does anyone know if there is any historical evidence to support king herod's mass killing of children under the age of two, when christ was born.. i can't find any.
that whole chapter seams to me not to be so much a historical report, but more a justification.. .
