  those of us who have previously spent years and even decades reading and studying wts materials regarding the "beasts" of bible prophecy and how "false religion" has supported such know full well the wts's habit of slicing and dicing quotes so as to make it appear that "christendom" has turned their back on god in favor of world governments and especially the united nations.

  in the july 8, 1996 awake, pages 22-25, an article entitled, the pope's un visit _ what did it accomplish?, criticizes the pope's visit and speech to the un during its' october 1995 50th anniversary celebration.

  typically, the article begins with sliced/diced quotes which "seem" to "prove" the wts's historic proposition that, although well-intentioned, christendom's faith has been misplaced in man himself, and the un.

  I don't agree with the birth control issue either.
  The point here is that most Catholics will live their lives as they see fit. They know what the Pope and others say, but do what they think is best for them. And they're not marked or DF or shunned by their families and friends.

  i just got off the phone with author barbara grizzuti harrison (visions of glory; italian days, etc.

  ) who is currently living in brooklyn and has serious health problems.

  she is now 67, but is very mentally alert and still has an excellent sense of humor!

  When I wanted to buy the book, I was amazed to hear that it was out of print. I'm so glad I finally found one (cost me only 15 $ or less)
  I had a used book store do the search for me.
  How much would a reprint cost ? Does someone know ???

  Visions of Glory was the first book about the JWs I ever read.
  Found it at the public library. Loved it so much, tried to buy it from a bookstore, but it was out of print. I had a search done and I did find one. Great writer, great story.

  I love this Pope, he just seems to be a great human being.
  And he speaks to the public, in front on thousands of people and even millions on TV...
  He stands behind what he has to say...
  When has any of the Governing Body done that ?
  And don't answer, they do it all the time during conventions and assemblies...
  These are just JW drones listening, not the world !
