  well after two months of silence i got a couple of phone calls from my "best jw friends".

  probably motivated by november watchtower instructions, they were nice asking about a family, kids etc, and then came "the" question: when are you going back to the meetings?

  i told them again reasons why not ,yet they tried to be sympathetic by warning: as long as you do not go around and bad-mouth the organization we can still be friends.

  My response - I put a Christmas wreath on the door - for the first time in my life!

  Good for you. What's wrong with a wreath anyway ? Now, you should plan on going out with your kids (how old are they?) sometime around the 15th of December and pick your own tree.... Bring it into your house (in front of a window if possible) and decorate it. The kids will really enjoy that. And it smells so good, and it is so beautiful....

  Just lost our parents....

  well, the shunning begins.

  we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.

  of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.

  Different type of bible study

  last night i went with a friend to a bible study promoted by his non-denominational church.. from time to time, some of the church will get together for a few weeks in someones home and have a study.

  this one was six weeks long, and certainly was not manditory.. i entered the home, and instantly had flashbacks to book studies.

  chairs were set out, but there was joy in the air.

  This is exactly why the JW leadership doesn't want the rank and file to have friends from other religions, and doesn't want them to go anywhere close to another Christian church. . . . they may like it there much better than at the Kingdom Hall, and for good reasons.

  we had a poster once named Troucul, nice guy, once I got to know him. The first time I saw his user name, I wondered why anyone would choose such a name to be known by on a board such as this... does Zelevis has the same meaning ? I wonder....
