i've just finished reading this book
i was brought up in the society, seen the elder arrangement brought in, seen changes and in fighting - and finally sttof down as a snr circuit elder in england because of the abuse issue and the society covering up.
i have also the seen the society flee and cya because of the data protection act in the uk.

Nowhere in the book does Ray Franz come across as a bitter, bitter man....
even though he would have the right to be, but he's not. He's fair and cool about the whole thing.
most of the "real life ex's" that i have met don't want anything to do with other ex's.
these are people who don't like ex-dub boards.
in fact they don't have much time for other ex's, full stop.
At my barbie last year, one such ex made an appearance and rounded on us all for "picking the scabs" off our histories. He said we should just get on with life and forget the whole damned thing. We should be just like him. Hah!

Short growing season here in Vermont, but we have a big vegetable garden. From Asparagus to Zucchini and every letter of the alphabet inbetween....
I couldn't live without herbs.... I mean, how can you cook anything if you don't have parsley and onions, and basil, and thyme, and savory, and tarragon... I also have chamomille and hyssop and catnip and mint and lemon balm and feverfew.... etc.
We're just starting the planting today with potatoes. It's been cold the last week or two.

Good comparison. Al Capone is viewed by society as a criminal. Rutherford is not viewed as such, just because he hides behind the veil of religion, but he did cause a lot of hardship for thousands of people... He used all his followers one way or another....
